Scary Afterthought: FSU won

the 1st & 4th quarters by score of 28-7 while Tigers won Middle 2nd & 3rd for only a 6 point win which could have been a tie or 1 point loss IF the on-side kick hadn't been secured. Saying, YiKES!

Good thing they count all 4 quarters to determine the winner!

Ever since that moron talked about his 4th quarter W-L record people want to keep up with individual quarter results.

If the onsite kick had been recovered, if FSU scored a TD and if FSU could have stopped us from scoring.
It's much more than the recovery of an onside kick...

If FSU scored more points than us they might have had a good chance to beat us.

IF is a powerful word. You can make anything see possible IF you do it like that.
If the coots were not complete garbage they would not be such a trashy program without any history of success.
IF Norvell did not go for it and just took the points/punted.... (even with his meh kicker)
He would have a near guaranteed 3 points from the 4th goal stand in the 4th (96%+), as well as a chance (50%) for the 47-48 yard attempt in the 2nd quarter. Even punting would have been better.
And then if he punted rather than the 4th and 6 try.... we would have likely had 3 less points.
So if he just played (conservatively - gasp) he would be tied or +3 on us.
But man, IF is a big word. Like IF the coot could read they might be offended by this poast with cause. But they can't and they see words so they are offended anyways.

Glad we won but doing that late game stuff just emboldens every team we play that they can come back on us. It wasn't like we had gone to a bunch of backups on defense.

If you can't see that consistency and the ability to play four quarters at or near potential could be important in coming weeks, maybe YOU are the senile one.
In recent years we played the whole game (except for garbage time when the backups came in) like we did in the mid-8 at FSU. Bill is right; that should be the goal.

If truth-telling has become "chum", then...

the entire focus of this forum has been disfigured. This is a discussion group; the entire point is to talk about what's going on, not just to give a bunch of homers a place to show what great fans they are. Hate to tell you, but that's BORING. Outside of a few easy to spot trolls we're ALL Clemson fans here. We want the same thing.
I joined Tiger Net in 1995. Back then there wasn't a whole lot of good stuff to talk about. As fans and Clemson people we were hopeful, but there was MUCH to discuss in regard to what needed to be done to become more competitive and get back to the ACC-dominant program we had been just five years previously. Now it seems like a lot of very vocal people have little interest in that sort of discussion because we have reached that point of dominance.
Here's something to watch for - people who spend more time complaining about the posts of other TNET members rather than actually commenting on the sport being discussed or refuting those with whom they disagree. I have little interest in those people because they seldom add anything substantive here. I really think the whole TU/TD thing has made some people rather useless here. If I post something that you disagree with, refute me!! Tell me where I'm wrong. No one is perfect; we all have things to learn and can benefit from alternate points of view.

Open discussion is always a plus and should be welcomed and encouraged.
Defining “truth” becomes a bit of a challenge. What LBB posted in this case is his opinion and in no way the absolute unchallengeable truth.
However, I think the post you responded to that blasted LBB was out of line. It was harsh and struck below the belt for no real reason. It in no way refuted LBB. It simply denigrated him.
I honestly believe LBB is well intentioned and good natured in what he posts. I also believe he quite often sort of enjoys stirring the pot a bit. Apart from the post in this thread, he is often prone to sort of shooting from the hip in his observations.
That’s what I mean by “chum” ... I don’t think he tries to be a troll. I think he just enjoys the action.

The ACC is getting more competitive and we will have games like this.Bottom line is win. Fla State is a long time nemesis so it isn't surprising. Look at Wake, our long time whipping boys and we had to have OT to beat them. Was that scary?

even if they would have recovered the onside kick, they would have still needed to score. good thing we got it and we didnt have to find out.

we won! but that stat is discomforting. I thought I was liking what I saw when we were just running the ball straight to them for much if the field...til progress stopped. Had it been successful it would've been one heck of a statement. I don't recall what ended it, may have had to take the dog out, but evenbthough we ate up clock, we let them back in the game.

We were tied at the end of the 1st Q 7-7. They only outscored us in the 4th during their failed comeback attempt.

Exactly LBB.
Total yards went in FSU favor as well.
The Tigers have a: "this is going to be cake mentality" sometimes if they get up early in games. It's costly and can be hard to come back from; once a good opponent starts coming back.
We were good. But, we also got lucky Saturday!
The senior leadership is good enough I think to address the intensity level! I trust they will!
