yes agree . it is hard to fathom the money Clemson is shelling out for these coaches that cant walk and chew gum at the same time anymore. do they know how stupid they sound to the press?

for me when it comes to Wes. My biggest problem this year is his defense shrinks in the big moment. They have up 13 in 3 of Pitts last 4 possessions. 10 in South Carolina's last 2. 17 in 3 of SMU's last 4. Yes I know the offense went generic at the same time, but I still trust them with the game on the line more than the D.

Do you really? The offense give up a pick to end the South Carolina game and was bailed out by a long fog at the end of the smu game after totally doing nothing in the second half.

South Carolina, no doubt, but they did drive down the field to get in position with 1:09. Drive for game winner against Pitt. Only one pass, but they made the play to put themselves in position for the FG against SMU. They go limp in the second half but seem to respond with back against the wall, except Louisville.

You know if the offense and defense are going to pots about the same time of the game, there might be a strength and conditioning issue as well

That’s not even close to a true statement.
The Defense has no identity. They struggle to get pressure on the QB (aside from Parker), the tackling is horrendous. We are consistently out coached and schemed by opposing offenses. Anytime the Defense has to get a stop, Goodwin seems to make the worst calls he’s made all game.
Talent can mask inept coaching. The issue is the talent on Clemsons D isn’t enough to bridge that gap as it was his first years as DC.
Clemson needs an experienced DC to come in and be a different voice than this team has grown accustomed to.

Has a pretty nice resume, albeit never a DC. Still young.
We were 6th last year, and this year's stats are skewed bu 2nd and 3rd team, who played terribly.
The blame game is absurd, and TNET has become a cesspool of negativity. Not saying that's you though. You're a level headed dude for sure.
But then again, we're in the playoffs and a top 12 team. Let's be a little more realistic, like you said.

He did an horrific job as the DC at Clemson this past year with very good talent. The only time I thought he did a good job calling defenses was the FIRST half of the Georgia game. After the Dawgs adjusted and exposed him, every opponent after that took Georgia's philosophy and grinded Wes to powder.
He never showed this rest of the season about situational defensive football. He kept running that knuckle-headed 4-2-5 trying to prove that it worked. My Dad always said, "A hard head brings a soft butt". The moral of the story is: Learn how to adjust. That's what TRUE geniuses do.

this defense can't pursue the right gaps
this defense can't actually get to the QB
it's just not a good personnel group. If the player is a junior or senior, they have to just ride bench . it's been 4 years of this
