To Louisville Lurkers ... #1 Excuse from '16 ... be advised:

Your guy did not "go" out of bounds, he was "knocked" out of bounds.
He did not have a choice as to where he went out of bounds.
He was forced out at the point he left the field of play.
Whether or not he "lost track" of where the first down line was (and still is) totally irrelevant.
He was forcibly knocked out of bounds a full yard short, and he had no choice in the matter.
Even if he had known where the line to gain was he couldn't have reached it ... it's not like he didn't try to stay in bounds, he just couldn't do it.
Case closed!
New Game ... prepare new excuses.

I hope we can get some 17 year old kids to run the chains and markers. Maybe celebrate like wild Indians every time the Cards score or make a third down stop.

Was it not the 4th play in a row that the line to gain was the 2?

I've watched the play many times. Edmond made a perfect read and perfect break on the play. When you complete a pass that far behind the line to gain that is the risk you take. There is so much stupid controversy over that play that what gets lost is a perfect heads up play by Marcus Edmond. So Cards fans and their sympathizers alike can whine about Ben Boulware using the necessary means to stop LJ from gaining the extra yardage he was still fighting for or they can whine about marker placement but the fact remains that they were beaten by a much better team. They were lucky just to be in the game. That's why they lost and went on to lose 3 of their last 4. That's why we won and went on to win the national championship. End of story.

I feel like if he actually was aware of the line to gain, which he obviously was not, he would hand tried to make a move inside.
However, it wouldn't have mattered. Edmonds had him dead to rights either way. He played his role perfectly.

Anyone who thinks his goal was not the end zone, but was a first down mark at the 3 yd line, needs not discuss football until thy head is examined. Market didn't matter. ..when you are that close, 1st diwn mark is nice, but anyone is always aiming for the end zone...period.

Very true and even more reason he should have tried to make the move inside.
But as I said, wouldn't have mattered. He would have been short either way.
