Shitbox Revelations: Tire Review
Aug 27, 2021, 8:04 AM
|
|
|
So as I have posted here before, I had to get new tires.
All 4.
I did not realize how expensive tires are. So because I am
from not renting on IOP, I decided to do one decent thing and buy good quality tires. Specifically the BFG KM3 MudTerrians.
Pictured here
And let me tell you, these things are amazing. Now I haven't put them in mud yet because it's dryer than 7spots (which is really weird. Not the dryness, but 7spots post making cents).
But road noise? 8/10. Slight rawr but not very loud. Walker Hayes quickly drowns it out.
Steering? 6/10. Little loose on dry road but great turning radius
Ride? 10/10 Like floating on a cloud
Looks? 10/10 ####### look great
I'll let yall know how it does in mud this hunting season but for 1300, it was well worth the price.
Pic attached.

You could always just pawn MawMaw's old jewelry if you want to get a brush guard

I just had to pay $500 for one tire
Aug 27, 2021, 8:15 AM
|

that usually costs about $280. Price gouging is in full effect in the tire market.

Wow. You got screwed. These were 290 each
Aug 27, 2021, 8:16 AM
|
|
then putting them on and taxes brought it to 1300
The next cheapest ones were Nitto mud graps but they were only $90 cheaper and according to my research, these will last 20-30k more miles than the nittos

that is the number one issue. Not readily available for most tire shops and Goodyear isn't pumping them out. They are making 265/275's with their time, not 35 and 37's

You know like when Pee Paw would make johnny cakes on the back of a hoe, but the last couple ones were a little watery and ended up real thin-like? Crepes are like that, only frencher and gayer.

Well, I walked my dog on the beach last night.
Aug 27, 2021, 11:12 AM
[ in reply to How's that lease going*** ] |
|
He's gotten into a routine of wanting to take a walk every day, so we walked up by the Windjammer, listened to some music for a minute, then walked over to the Dinghy to have a beer. Talked to some folks there for a few minutes, let them pet my dog, then walked home. The bartenders there know us and have treats and water lined up for him when we get there.
I'll probably go drop the boat in at the marina that's about a 1/2 mile away tomorrow morning, and might do the same Sunday. I've noticed lately that at night I can start hearing the waves more and more every day, so about the time it's comfortable at night to open the windows, I'll be able to fall asleep to the sounds of the ocean on the beach.
Most days, I don't even leave the island, and summer traffic is just about gone, so thats nice. I'm meeting some friends at Sullivan's Island today for lunch, so the choices are bigger and I'm not sure if I want a burger from Poe's, some smoked wings from Home Team, a taco bowl from Mex-1, or maybe I'll try out the new place- Longboard and see what their margarita tastes like. Looking forward to going to eat at the Boathouse tonight with some friends from out of town. Breach Inlet is beautiful around sunset while watching the sun go down and the Cooper River Bridge in the background.
But wait--were you asking about the lease? Oh, it's great. The house was completely renovated from roof to floor right before I moved in, and it's really nice to come home to basically a brand new house with all new high end appliances. For what I pay every month, it's a steal. I have more available money now than I ever did on any house I "owned". I guess because I don't have to always work on house stuff-it's already been all done.
How about you? How is "owning" your MIL's house in the middle of the poorest, worst part of the state? I guess with kids, having to work weekends, house and car payments, insurance, house repairs and the never ending remodeling that you just never seem to have time to do, you won't be leaving there any time soon, huh?
