Not gonna lie this is getting really old

May 17, 2023, 8:26 PM

Seeing rival schools upgrade big time in skill positions through the portal when we could definitely use more playmakers. Definitely behind Dabo staying true to himself but it’s starting to feel like we are going to be playing with our hands voluntarily tied behind our backs.

Sit back, relax. You don't know anything they don't. Enjoy the season that will end up in the CFP imo.

Apparently a lot of people are higher on our WR than most. Looking at NFL future projections they have guys like beuax and EJ in there. I think this year will turn the heads on WR.

Hey man just relax! Sit back and listen to someone who says we are playoff bound but doesn’t even know who is on the roster and who isn’t! Don’t forget to give him a TU for the positivity!

Spud. That’s a great point. I have serious doubts about a Colorado winning any championships.

On the other hand, I am less certain about an FSU that has a mixture of experience on the lines and new skill positions via the portal.

Alabama has shown that using the portal for skill positions such as WR can be successful. It will be interesting to see how our skill guys perform this season versus the portal guys from FSU.

Having said that, Norvell has yet to beat Dabo or prove he can win a championship. My prediction is we win the ACC but FSU has a successful year.

If he was doing all he can to make us better, he would resign and allow a new coach to come in and make things better.

I don’t have a problem with Coach Brownell. I have never called for his removal and have always pulled for our basketball team to win every game. I have a problem with your constant cheap shots and sniping at the football program. But, based on your comments - IF Dabo is not giving his best effort, it is still producing much better results than Brad doing all he can. So the door is open for your standard, lame excuses. Everyone here knows the drill.

commitments, and still puts us in contention for championships, both league and national, every season, even when said roster isn't necessarily at its height.

Unlike a Brad Brownell who averages maybe one player per class that actually goes the distance and graduates, Dabo's kids largely stick around, putting in redshirt 5th and Covid 6th years often enough. The winning culture, family atmosphere, commitment, and character-driven program are a rarity in today's day and age, and I couldn't be more proud, and extremely fortunate as an alum, of what Dabo continues to do and represent here for Clemson Nation.

Regarding transfers - if you want to moan and groan about how little Dabo dips into that area, please have the courtesy to identify those players on the roster that he should jettison in order to make room, including those fresh out of high school that are coming in as freshmen. All In isn't just a phrase tossed about. It's part of the rock solid foundation from which Dabo operates, and from which a program that generally averages around a top 10 recruiting class, with a program budget just outside the top 20, is able to produce results whose whole almost always surpasses the sum of its parts.

Go Tigers!

Clemson has 20 WR's. Most are walk-ons. No scholarships. But practice players with steak, lobster and perks. At least 6-8 of these WR's have pedigree, potential and demonstrated competence. Most are young and some like Adam Randall are recovering from injury. But with Klubnik and new OC Riley, it's a new ball game. Some of these WR's will stay healthy, outperform expectations, and become Clemson stars.

He and Ladson were supposed to be our 5 star studs by last year along with a veteran elite 5 star QB from California. Instead they were all busts.. blame ability, injuries, whatever. Just really bad luck.

Couldn't agree more! Dabo needs to get off his high horse and use the portal. Poor coaching hires and subpar recruiting has led to mediocre football. Meanwhile Georgia is recruiting at a record pace while we are vacationing in South Africa. Where is the fire 🔥 Dabo had while building the program?

My impression was that Dabo wanted to get the portal receiver from Charlotte but, did not have an available scholarship after the defensive players returned. The covid year through a monkey wrench in roster management. Enjoy the depth on the defensive front and hopefully the offense can score enough points to win.

This was what I was looking for but should’ve known what was coming lol. I’m not mad at Dabo like a good bit of folks are it’s his program and he’s earned the right to run it as he sees fit. All I said was it’s getting old 😂😂

I do agree with tigergirlga. I really believe if we had scholarships available Dabo might be taking a WR this year. I love that players come back for 5th and 6th years but it does make roster management almost impossible.

And I definitely understand your point. Kind of like watching your neighbor buy a new truck every year when I have a long standing plan where I buy a new vehicle for either me or my wife every 5 years and only have one payment. My plan has worked well for us but the shiny new truck next door sure looks nice….

Re: Transfers are transfers for a reason***

May 18, 2023, 11:48 AM

How many Gibbs are there vs busts? Not being rhetorical - would like to see some analysis. I just keep seeing evidence of a mentality that the portal shelves are overflowing with plug and play success stories. Would be nice to see some more or less empirical data.

IMO you might catch lightning in a bottle but you’re more likely to find a problem in the portal than a solution.

Plug holes? Yes, with some luck. Build a program and sustained success? No.
