Another site reporting that BB is restructuring his contract to include a reduced buyout and a 1-2 year extension for recruiting purposes.

You can't have a coach with less than 4 years remaining on his contract. Hopefully this extension is more representative of where we are as a program.

Well we got Monte Lee and won the ACC, and also have a very good team this year.
So I'd say pretty good.

I emailed the writer of the post and courier and asked her about her interview with Drad. I asked her the very question we have here. Did Drad say tell her if Brownell got an extension? She said that no extension was given to Brownell. That's not saying that he hasn't changed his mind since. A superstar recruit like Williamson won't care because he is a one and done type of player. When is the last time we got a player like him? Look at our incoming class. It's the best one to date but their offers are full of mid majors schools. I'm sure they have talent but they won't be impact players for at least 3 years. They will be need to impact players next year. Adding a year won't fool the better recruits. They know the thin ice that Brownell is on.

You are focusing on players like Trapp (who is our only 3-star recruit this year, by the way). Yes, he has a lot of mid-major offers, but he also has offers from South Carolina, Georgia Tech, Georgia, etc. Not bad by any means.
The other three recruits for 2017 also have some mid-major offers, as well as offers from schools like UConn, Georgetown, Miami, FSU, etc.
This is a very good, but not great, class. Nothing to be ashamed of at all.

You acknowledge what I am saying about this class. It's a good class but not a great class. Brownell has to show immediate improvement next year to convince fans and I hope Drad that this program is a growing program. To be honest we are still recruiting on a mid major level. Given what players are not coming back combined , those young kids are going to have play like Parade All Americans. That's unlikely to happen. They may be good in three years but under a new coach.

Is any fan who wants better for our basketball program always a coot. A few years ago Brad Brownell said in an interview that Clemson could not recruit the top players. We did not even try to see if they were interested in Clemson. Is it true that we stay away from the AAU leagues because of the loose ethics? You have to get in there and see what you can do. Dabo always was a great recruiter who knew that he could attract top players. Brownell is not a great recruiter. He's got next year to make changes and do something big. He better quit being comfortable and get a real sense of urgency.

William was mostly mid major but WV also offered which should tell you about his athleticism. Oliver would have had many more offers had he not been a hard commit and shut down his recruiting in December 2015, and also enrolled this past January

Be honest. These recruits and their families do their homework. They realize that this extension is to keep the rival recruiters from using the three years as leverage. It wouldn't go over with most of us fans but Drad could give Brad a big extension. I don't think even Drad has that much faith in Brownell.
