Jeeze, would a coach ever say he expects to get fired? Would he say he expects to step down but I sure hope the recruits stay, (until I announce my new school)?
Sorry, not a fire the coach raider but it's time for Monte to leave! Clemson baseball is a premier team that has lost tons of ground! His release is warranted as Clemson Baseball was a top 20 program if not higher and now we are not a top 50 program. We are better and I am tired of mediocrity in our money programs but under our better programs minus football?

Then end the way the last two games went. Our new AD will stick to the same motto as basketball in my opinion.
I’d hate to be the one calling the shots on hiring & firing at Clemson. I’m sure it’s done by committee but the AD is the point man.
Who would you hire at this point to help the program, assistants or head coach?

Its a little early to be calling out the AD. He needs a little time to get his feet under him. Its a lot different making the calls when you have someone with exp to back you. I agree; at the very least, Monte needs a sh!t or get off the pot statement. Even more so for Brownell. The other reason for saying "give him some time"; you dont want to fire your manager without having their replacement already picked and confirmed to take the spot. Having an open position, for any length of time, is an even bigger negative.

If we don't fire Monte then we need to fire Neff. This is not a difficult decision, just an uncomfortable one. At least Brownell has some accomplishments to defend the decision regardless if you think they are enough or not. Clemson's baseball program has gone backwards in historic preportions under Lee.
I understand the desire for Monte to succeed and the hope that he would if we just give him one more chance he would come through. Nobody likes to fire someone. It is what you have to do when you are put in a position of responsibility, and someone is a liability to your organization. Monte Lee the person is irrelevant in the decision. He has not done his job and you don't penalize everybody else just because you would like for him to succeed.
If Neff is incapable of pulling the string, then he is not doing the job that he was hired to do. As with Monte, if he is not doing his job, then he should get a pink slip as well. Brownell was a difficult decision. He has done a lot for Clemson, and it was a question of whether consistency on the court was more important than off the consistency in the classroom with the occasional on the court bonus. I disagreed but I understand and accept the decision with Brad. With Monte Lee it is not a question of whether he should be fired. It's just a question as to whether Neff is going to do his job.

I would at least call a Cliff Godwin. Has done more with less than any other coach I know. He wants so badly to get Ecu to Omaha but after not having their Friday starter, Saturday Starter pretty much all year they simply do not have the pitching to get there I dont think. I would hope our A.D. is at least making calls to agents behind the scenes. So sad to see Clemson baseball with all they have to offer. It is obvious to me after 5, 6 years now Monte is not the answer. Jmo

Randy Mazey is someone else I would consider. Same thing with Brad ....really like Brad as a basketball coach it just hasn't worked out that being said. Basketball has always been a challenge, while baseball should not be at Clemson. Maybe some of the older folks can but I can't remember Clemson being this bad for this long in what used to be there best sport out of the 3 major ones. Pre-Dabo of course.

D rad was only good for athletic facilities upgrades. Hope neff has a set to make moves that are needed here across athletics. D rad only cares about money and what revenues money…football and b-ball. I saw him in Dunkin’ one time ordering a water. That’s it. Seriously who just goes to Dunkin’ for a water.

Drad and Legget was a clash between two stubborn pigheaded guys, and Drad won because he’s the one who signs the checks. A good leader doesn’t let it come to a head like that he/she has the interpersonal skills to know how to better resolve the conflict. A good boss doesn’t always feel the need to look like he’s right (especially when the subordinate knows a sheet ton more about the topic at hand) he needs to be able to put aside emotion and do what’s right for the organization. Drad just wanted to be right and he wasn’t.

coaching prospects around when we was hired. He reached a Super Regional at CofC, and the Clemson fanbase wanted him. We wanted to get him before UofSC did.
He was the "right" choice at the time, and after winning the ACC Championship in his first year it looked like we were off and running. He started great except for losing regionals. Since being hired here he's in the top 25 in wins in the country, and he won 40 or more games his first 3 seasons before things started going relatively south.
I personally don't think Neff wants to stir things up in his first year. He kept Brad with some stipulations for next year, so I expect he'll do the same for Monte.

He'll be back. The same with basketball, the new AD won't make a change in his first year on the job. The AD will say that we will need to make changes to get us more competitive. That we'll do come things to help recruiting. I think Monte gets another year.

If he is not fired next week , Clemson doesn’t give a chit about baseball. There is absolutely no reason not to go ahead and stop the bleeding. It’s going to be a complete rebuild anyway, so let’s find the right guy to do the job . H ell I bet Jack would come back , let him choose a coach to replace him in a few years .

Not a chance. Jesus didn't even fire Judas from his disciples.
Monte is trying really hard and his family loves Clemson. Why do you want to send them packing to a new location that isn't home to them? Why do you want to add that stress into their lives? Have faith in Monte and his staff. The best is yet to come.

Awesome…looking forward to some of you that are not all in giving up your tickets so we can upgrade some of ours…I think Monte deserves more time. I know he loves Clemson and is giving everything to getting this team right. The landscape of college baseball has been very difficult to manage over the past few years but I think things are going to start evening out to our benefit. Hopefully we can catch a few breaks and speed up the process back towards the success that we all expect Go Tigers!!!

I like Lee and hope is back next year. But whether it is Lee or someone else, I think our baseball coach needs to be able to compete on a level playing field, as Pres Bush (1) put it. I know that football and basketball are much greater revenue producing sports, but Clemson has a great tradition in baseball. We should be able to offer the full number of scholarships for baseball as allowed by the NCAA, but we cannot. That puts Lee or whoever in a difficult situation, particularly competing with UGa and other SEC teams who can offer more. Most Clemson alumni take pride in our accomplishments on the baseball diamond. I want us to go back to Omaha. Let Lee compete on a level field.

Clemson baseball used to be a national power. No more. The landscape of college baseball has changed so much. Look at what Tennessee has done. Called recruiting. Clemson needs to get out of this let a kid play at Clemson because he grew up a Clemson fan, his father played at Clemson, family goes to Clemson. This day and time noone cares about the legacy anymore. The elite players at Tennessee are from California. None of those kids had parents attend UT. The coach at UT recruits high level players and he does not care if they had parents play at UT. UT has four first round pitchers that had no back ground at UT. This team has the ability to win the CWS. Noone knows for sure last year Arkansas was supposed to be the elite team to win the CWS then they ran into NC State. We know the rest of that story. I am sure most Clemson fans would be happy to get elite players that did not have any kind of background from CU. Until Clemson gets out of this letting kids play baseball at CU just because they grew up a CU fan and their family attended CU is something from the past. With the resources at CU and the fan support there is no excuse for the bad teams. Sorry that is just the way it is.

I certainly hope that he does not return. Since Lee has been at Clemson, he has won only with coach Leggett’s recruits and not his own. 2021 was a total debacle and 2022 has been equal if not worse in that the Tigers performance in ACC conference games has been truly embarrassing. He needs to leave; now.
