Brush with reality

Lets all be honest with each other. If we want to win 10+ games next year, we need either Chad Kelly or Deshaun Watson starting at QB. Yea Cole Stoudt had great numbers this past year, but they were against 2nd and 3rd team defenses (who were 5-6, 6-6, 7-5 win teams). I cant stress this enough, if we want to continue our 10+ win seasons we need a duel threat starting at QB. Cole reminds me of Charlie Whitehurst, he is a great passer but could only win 7-8 games with a great defense and could never get 10+ wins. Chad Kelly and Deshawn Watson remind me of Tajh Boyd and Rodney Williams, they are duel treat QB's who can produce 10+ win seasons. Sure Charlie beat some sorry USUC teams but he also lost to Duke, Wake and Marryland. Id rather lose to USUC and go to big bowl games, have 10+ win seasons and be nationally relevant, then lose to Duke and Wake and be a mid-stream ACC team. Lets continue our RISE TO THE TOP!!!

That was a nice run against a weak G.Tech D that we had a 14 point lead on with 14:00 mins left in the 4th.

Few question that he can make solid open field runs

But can he be the guy to push for 3 yards for a 1st down against to D linemen when needed? He seems a little fragile to do that often to me.

If he is indeed like Whitehurst....

I say we hold Stoudt until the Scar game and start him then. Remember Whitehurst never lost to them.

The best player will start

We don't know who that will be yet. I love the competition that will probably last thru Spring and Fall camp. The coaches will play whoever they think will have the best shot at winning. I trust them to make that decision.

I have no issues going into next season with Cole Stoudt as the quarterback.

I expect that our coaching staff will build the team around the strengths of the QB regardless of who wins the job. I am not sure I am bold enough to say start the kid at QB who just graduated from high school last month! Stoudt has shown his skills. Sorry you missed them!

I feel like we've got some serious bruisers at RB now

so perhaps running between the tackles will not fall into Stoudt's hands nearly as it did with Boyd.
