If FSU goes down but wins out then what bowl do we end up

Oct 16, 2014, 11:07 AM

in?

FSU going down at this moment to a non-ACC team does not help us in anyway IMO.

He did not lose the Peach bowl. Would you say the SEC lost the Cotton bowl? People need to stop getting caught up in the names of the bowls when the match ups/money are what really matter. The SEC #2 team could be playing in the Buffalo Wild Wings bowl. The #3 team could be matched up against the ACC #3 in the Belk or Music City. The bowls have gone though major changes this year and the ACC was able to position itself in a solid position.

Tough question...

Oct 16, 2014, 11:12 AM

is the going down consensual or non-consensual?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

is that a real question

Oct 16, 2014, 2:43 PM

remember we're talking about FSU

FSU goes to Orange; ACC Coastal winner (Duke?) goes to

Oct 16, 2014, 11:20 AM

Peach?; and we end up in Russell or Belk Bowl?

2024 orange level memberbadge-donor-10yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Coastal winner isn't guaranteed Peach...

Oct 16, 2014, 10:41 AM

The bowls still have the availability to choose and a 10-2 or even 9-3 Clemson team is going to more attractive than a 8-4 Duke team. But yes, Orange, Peach, Athletic, Belk, Sun or Music Bowls are the ACC bowls.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Correct. The highest ranked ACC team gets the nod for either***

And according to this, I was wrong...

ACC no longer has direct ties to the Peach Bowl since its one of the 6 big bowls, but obviously we can be selected. Here are the bowl tie-ins..

I hope we never fall as far the Belk and Music City, but the Belk will be a quick, easy travel game, and I love Nashville. I enjoyed going to Nashville for the Music City in '09 aside from it being colder than heck!!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Probably depends on

Oct 16, 2014, 11:20 AM

Clemson's next 6 games too.

If we finish the season 10-2 and make it into the top 10 we most likely end up in one of the Big 6 bowl games as an at large. Sure FSU winning out is the only way to lock us into the peach at 10-2 but I like our chances for some other slots also.

I would rather FSU keep losing and us go to the Peach than them win out and us go to the Orange.

Quit using facts to overcome long held insecurities.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

In related news, surely I'm not the only one that...

Oct 16, 2014, 11:54 AM

cannot stand the commercialization of these bowl games. Peach Bowl sounds so much better than the Chik-Fil-A Bowl (and I love CFA). Russell Athletic Bowl? Buffalo Wild Wings Bowl? Dominos Pasta Bowl? Carmax 2011 Toyota Corolla Bowl? Papa Johns Breadstix Bowl?? McDonalds Chicken McNugget Bowl?

This crap has just gotten so out of hand - it really cheapens the whole feel of what should be a great accomplishment. It even tastes bad saying it - I can't help but frown when I have to say the names of these bowl games now.

Can someone please explain the benefits to us with regard to the Notre Dame agreements?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Yea - that's garbage.

Oct 16, 2014, 1:56 PM [ in reply to "Notre Dame is eligible for any ACC bowl tie-in ]

With rules like that, they'll never join a conference. Why would they? Seems like I recall something from years ago that they were eligible to play in the Championship Game as long as they had at least a 9-3 record or something - an accomplishment that's not very difficult if you can pick and choose who you play, devoid of any conference schedules..

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

And - so with those rules - who's to say...

Oct 16, 2014, 1:57 PM [ in reply to "Notre Dame is eligible for any ACC bowl tie-in ]

They don't lose to FSU, then decide they want to play in the Orange Bowl and take our slot? Thereby relegating us to the Carfax Kia Sedona Clunker Report Bowl?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Belk Bowl I hope

Oct 16, 2014, 2:46 PM

if its not the orange bowl I want to have us play in my backyard.
