If Fl St leaves the ACC

The conference is toast...meaning the GoR is toast. I believe the SEC or B1G or both have already extended informal invites to many schools, including us. Its just a matter of who wants to pay the exit fee and forfeit a year or two of media money while the rest of the ACC dominoes come crashing down. I believe the ACC will not go without a fight and will milk as much as they can during their imminent demise. Probably by 2027-2028 the ACC will be done and there will be no more GoR contracts.

You are assuming all it takes is FSU to pony up $120,000,000 for the exit fee then figure out how to survive with no media money. Even if FSU was willing to try to navigate all that, how would that release anyone else from the contract and GOR?

If FSU's lawyers have figured a way out that doesn't involve the penalty, then we will use the same strategy and leave as well.

I think FSU will not find a way out of the exit fee. I do think the Grant of Rights though will not hold up in a court of law based on the massive change of the college football landscape.

Maryland only paid 30 million of the 55 million exit fee. So basically the precedent is set. FSU could offer 60 million as a settlement and move on.

60 million is basically just one coach contract for 6 years.

We were not wait to see them through. We are going to file within a matter of weeks or months. We won’t wait that long

At present FSU get 40% of what Rutgers and Northwestern get in TV money. They get less than half of what Vanderbilt makes. They go to the B1G or SEC and get the loan for $120M. They'll be making half of what the others make but that will be more than they're making now. They'll be playing in bigger games and will pay it off faster than waiting for the current ACC deal to expire. Clemson could do the same.

It wont release anyone from the GoR. What it will do is act as a catalyst for other schools to leave. Who ever leaves the ACC first will be on the hook for GoR money for at least 2-3 years until other schools leave thus dissolving the ACC. Once the ACC is diluted enough the GoR becomes null.

If FSU chooses to leave and exit the conference then

1. The GOR is 100 percent finished
2. I do not believe a GOR will hold up in court in a sport where free movement has been the status quo
3. We will be one more step closer to a 65 team Power 5 Conference with a commissioner

Breach of contract by the ACC when a member voted to exclude FSU from the playoff.
