If Clemson is going more or less tie itself to ND, as Mr. Hood has reported,

We may be in for a long wait. This article explains how Notre Dame can afford to wait, possibly as long as it wants to. Can Clemson afford to? Most of the fans on the Irish forums want them to stay independent. I believe of all schools, Clemson should not be relying or working with ND in any of this. Notre Dame has and always will look out for themselves. Other schools will want them on their schedules, whether they’re in a conference or not.
https://www.si.com/college/2022/07/04/college-sports-is-waiting-for-signs-from-notre-dame-but-independent-irish-can-afford-to-waitThe school has long had academic prestige, football and financial success and the autonomy of FBS independence, but will college sports’ instability affect that?

All of that may be true however if Notre Dame ever hopes to play for a national championship they had best hop on board before the bus leaves the station. Not that it can't be done but remaining an independent reduces their opportunity. They would essentially have to run the table to be considered a playoff contender and that's extremely difficult to accomplish IMO

Step off the roof. Unless people stop giving to IPTAY and buying football tickets we can wait as long as it takes. Our facilities across the board are as good as any school's and far better than most. We have risen to the top with a measly $35 million a year and I really doubt needs anything he doesn't have.

but people are stopping their IPTAY donations and contributing to NIL funds instead. Season ticket sales have been down too.

So we stand pat and things fall to crap. Will you be one of the first appalled by that or will all still be rosy? We can not complete veryong on 40 million when others are going to get 100 million of more.

I’m not on the roof, coot boy. Did you read the article? Like it or not, Notre Dame has the money, alum base, boosters, and football history that allow them to take their time and wait. The conferences, like the Big10 and ACC want them badly as members and ND knows it. I love Clemson, but reality check, we cannot afford to wait it out like ND can. The soon to be super conferences will run the ACC schools out of tv time, and 36 million will not come close to the 100 million that their teams will make each year. Keep your head in the sand if you like, but it will be a New World Order.

I have a few questions and I’m serious when I ask these questions because it has to do with perspective and knowledge.
How old are you?
Did you actually go to Clemson?
If so what was your major?
What do you do for a living? Assuming you’re not still in school.
Where do you live?

I'd be really surprised if ND is hooked up with Clemson on joining a conference. WHY? ND could join any conference it wants to. ND wants to stay independent and probably will until it hurts them bad enough to join a conference. Crazier things have happened so hang on and let's see where it all goes.

I fully expect ND to try to stand pat for now with their current ACC arrangement. They have a history of giving the Big Ten the big blow off. Problem is the ACC can't wait for the PAC and Big 12 to become a merged super conference and left eventually by ND giving the ACC zero options in the future.

package deal, more we are tied to them in the sense the speed at which the next round of expansion occurs largely depends on ND. As soon as they give up being Independent, Clemson will be pulled into it as an equal but opposite reaction.

I read it that way too. Maybe I read too far into it, but a ND decision that entails anything other than joining the ACC, leaves the conference with no viable pathway for competitive expansion, essentially making Clemson’s decision to exit academic.

Because you have the reading comprehension of a six-year-old.
David Hood did not report that Clemson is tied to Notre Dame. He said a few people said Clemson is tied to Notre Dame.
I think it’s hilarious and with all the other information coming from every corner of college football it would be ridiculous to think we are tied to Notre Dame.
Notre Dame is a perfect fit for the Big Ten and Clemson is a perfect fit for the SEC.
Clemson has been treated like a redheaded step child in the ACC from day one despite being a charter member. They have used us and abused us for decades. #### the ACC! As much as clowns on this website hate the SEC, that’s nothing but jealousy!
Clemson should’ve joined the SEC years ago. It should have been Clemson rather than South Carolina. Anything else would be ridiculous and to the detriment of Clemson. Independent, ACC, Big Ten, even some conference goulash would all be detrimental to Clemson. Anyone that can’t see there’s only one correct answer has their head up their ### or in the sand or is just too dumb or ignorant to be posting online.

Due to DRAD's relationship with Clemson leadership. Clemson has no relationship with ND.
