Perhaps he should put more butts in seats before complaining

Feb 10, 2015, 10:39 AM

about the arena. Something tells me if Brownell ball was attracting fans, we would have a better plan.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Perhaps he should put more butts in seats before complaining

Feb 10, 2015, 10:41 AM

Winning attracts fan not style of play. When Purnells teams sucked we struggled to fill the place as well.

Okay...

Feb 10, 2015, 10:42 AM

maybe he should win then?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Okay...

Feb 10, 2015, 10:44 AM

no #### Sherlock. You dont think not half assing our arena would help with recruiting which would help with that?

All of this is completely irrelevant to my original post anyway.

Using your logic

Feb 10, 2015, 10:45 AM

he can't be successful here because he will have a crap arena. So how could he have success and then leave? BC of you, I has the confused.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

would you say last year was a success, considering where we

Feb 10, 2015, 10:46 AM

were picked to finish?

Would you say we have been successful in ACC play so far this year?

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

"I've been working since I was 15 continually until now. I worked 40 hours a week at 15, when it wasn't even legal for 15 year olds to work that many hours."

So we should all make it to every game because we're a .500

Feb 10, 2015, 10:55 AM

ballclub when a bunch of tarhole writers said we'd finish last?

I never said that...

Great job completely missing the point of my post though.

I realize you are an anti Brad person though so I am not shocked you wouldnt be smart enough to see that.

You said don't complain when he's a big winner and leaves

Feb 10, 2015, 10:58 AM

for a bigger program. Then, you said he needed new facilities to recruit so he can win. So how can he win when he's not getting what he needs? Seems like you're making excuses for a fella who was brought in to keep us going strong and instead continually misses the tournament.
So in response to your OP...
Don't worry, he won't win here, and other schools won't be clamoring for a .500 conference record coach.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: You said don't complain when he's a big winner and leaves

Feb 10, 2015, 11:03 AM

I said they would HELP. He is trending upwards currently and winning now with what he has.

Reading isn't your strong suit I see.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

He had a tournament team when we hired him

Feb 10, 2015, 11:09 AM

He even made the tournament his first year with OP's players. Hasn't made it since. But because this year he might finish on the bubble he's "trending upward?" and "winning with what he has?" How about you stop making excuses for a guy who took over a perennial tournament team and turned them into an "overachieving" NIT team.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: He had a tournament team when we hired him

Feb 10, 2015, 11:17 AM

He took over a program that was in bad shape due to OP basically not recruiting his last year having his prized class be full of busts. Brownell was left with two years of empty classes and one "prized" class full of busts. It has taken him a few years to recover from that.

This year he had the adversity of losing KJ to the draft. Clemson is not Duke Kentucky where we can go grab an McDonalds AA to replace a guy leaving early.

Those are the facts of the matter. Once again none of this has a #### thing to do with my original post.

Even if this was a different coach the Original Post still applies. Clemson shows no dedication to basketball so dont get mad when the coach shows no dedication to Clemson. Maybe if I type slower you will be able to understand that point.

Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning

Feb 10, 2015, 11:21 AM

Like I said, you'll have an excuse for Brownell at every turn. Just answer me this, how many consecutive years will he have to miss the tournament for you to say he shouldn't be our coach? 10? would that do it for you? You're like the Tammy Bowden lovers.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning

Re: Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning

Feb 10, 2015, 11:28 AM

WE absolutely showed dedication. You couldn't find a seat as a student in those days. Now you have 3 sections to yourself if you decide to go... maybe we should have a "taco night" like in Glory Road.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning

Feb 10, 2015, 11:35 AM

I was a student during that time never missed a home game. You are lying if you think the Student section was full for every game.

Also fan support =/= administration support. That is what this entire thread is about other than the ramblings of the idiot Psycho who doesnt know ### he is talking about.

This guy is right

Feb 10, 2015, 11:40 AM

And everyone else is wrong. Apparently during the OP years we all sat at home while our team won big games and went to the tournament. We were hallucinating when we were in the packed house and stormed the court. Brownell is running a better program than OP did and there are 5983 excuses for why Brownell can't make the tournament, none of them being his own fault.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: This guy is right

Feb 10, 2015, 11:44 AM

Nice to see you are incapable of reading. Another child left behind at least Ill take comfort in knowing that you more than likely will never step foot in a Clemson classroom.

Take solace in the fact that

Feb 10, 2015, 11:48 AM

Everyone else is wrong and just misreads your drivel, and that we're all mere peasants who don't have degrees from the same school you do. You're the only graduate from CU, and if there were others, they would all get down on their knees like you do, and proclaim Brad Brownell as their basketball saviors.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

We were one of the top 10 toughest places to play

Feb 10, 2015, 11:28 AM [ in reply to Re: Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning ]

during OP's best days. It was awesome in the John. So, not going to answer my question? How many straight years of not making the tourney before you are willing to make a change? will 10 be enough?

Administrations only support teams that win and make money. Do you get that? Did you take an econ class... ever?

TIA (thanks in advance).

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Fan support > Administration Support

Feb 10, 2015, 11:42 AM

not when it comes to recruiting and getting in players. Congrats on showing you have no clue how collegiate athletics work.

I guess in your ###### up mind fan support is the reason Football has had the surge since 2008. Couldnt have anything to do with the massive spending by the administration on facilities.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Fan support > Administration Support

Feb 10, 2015, 11:46 AM

Facilities for football have been HUGE no doubt, and couple that with the fact they were getting finished as Dabo "the recruiting wizard" took over it's hard to really tell which was the bigger factor. Basketball hasn't received the bells and whistles like football obviously, but they did get a brand new weight/nutrition facility in LJ during that time and the updates from the most recent renovations are still solid... nobody wants to come to a program and play defense these days. its all about that jump shot

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Fan support > Administration Support

Feb 10, 2015, 11:47 AM

The renovation in 2002 was a joke.

Once the roof issue was found they spent a ton of the budget on fixing it. That is why just over a decade later our facilities are still at the bottom of the league.

badge-donor-05yr.jpg flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

You understand that an admin

Feb 10, 2015, 11:53 AM

isn't going to spend buku money on a program that isn't winning, right? You understand that in order to spend money, you have to make money? I guarantee you that if Brownell had continued the success that OP had, and we were on ESPN once a week, playing in ACC title games and making the tournament every year, the plans would look a lot different. You want to blame someone for the crap plans? Blame your boyfriend, Brad.

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

Re: Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning

Feb 10, 2015, 11:27 AM [ in reply to Clemson showed dedication to bball when OP was winning ]

Sadly I really like Brownell, I think he's doing what he can with what he has... but that's also the problem... he needs to go out and get better players. I was there every home game under Purnell because we were winning in exciting fashion with Trevor Booker and KC Rivers. I give Brownell one more year to prove he can bring in the players.

DONT SEE A LOT OF PEOPLE COMPLAINING ABOUT WISCONSINS OR UVA STYLE OF PLAY. ANY STYLE IS EXCITING WHEN YOU WIN.

Yes, Brownell is amazing

Feb 10, 2015, 11:31 AM

That's why he can't get his team into a 68 team tournament, right? Stop making excuses for guys who can't win. If it were up to you we'd still have Tammy Bowden coaching our football team.

6-5 in the ACC should attract plenty of fans.
