a station planning to get it later in the day. Passed stations this morning with it at $3.05 a gallon and after lunch the same places were $3.29. What a difference a few hours make!

Feels like the further south you go the cheaper it gets. Not sure why that is. It's like $3.25 in Spartanburg, drive 25 miles south to Mauldin and its 30 cents cheaper. I don't remember discrepancies like that ever before.

The real reason we have to pay so much for gas is bc of all the strict regulations we have for drilling for our own oil. It is said that the USA has as much or more oil in our ground as there is anywhere in the world. But the restrictions put on drilling for it makes it not worth it bc we can get it from other countries cheaper!!!

Yep they slapped those regulations on fairly quick. Trickled down to our grocery prices being the highest they have been in my lifetime.

Seems good policy is not as important these days. More people are worried about the social issues and their feelings.

No, not really. He has the wealth of someone you'd expect after 50 years at a high level in the same field.

He didn't inherit all of his money and business assets either!

Seems there's some disagreement on whether or not the president can impact fuel prices.

There's only so much oil in the reserve. Once that's gone, there's not much more he can realistically do. He approved more new drilling licenses in 2023 than any other president ever has in a year.

The US is already producing more oil than any country in the history of the world has ever produced, but our oil companies aren't required to sell their products domestically, thanks to a bill that Congress passed in 2015 that legalized exports. Oil is a global market.

The rest of the developed world pays a lot more for gasoline than Americans do, because those countries all have significantly higher fuel taxes than we do. It's not like there aren't vehicles on the market that are much more fuel-efficient than the gas-guzzlers that many Americans drive. Maybe they should have a look in the mirror if they want someone to blame for how much they're spending to fill up the tank.

It always feels to me like it's cheaper at the first of the week and then it increases as the weekend nears. Maybe that has nothing to do with it but it just has seemed that way to me this past year.

Last evening I was entering Ingles and a guy who was driving a VW Beetle asked me if I could help him push his car to the pump as he misjudged how much gas he had in the tank. Was only about 50 yards and flat/downhill so I helped him out. My wife was at the pump filling our car while I went in the store and was watching. The last 25 yards was a coast so I headed inside. She said he got out of the car and realized he parked on the wrong side of the pump so he had to fill an empty bottle to get enough gas to start the car and reposition it at the pump.

Your subject reminded me of the story.
