As Clemson fans, what’s our ideal outcome for this Big 12 game to help us jump them with a win over SMU? Close game with an ISU win? Just a close game in general?

Both began the day with a higher ranking, more wins against ranked opponents, and either will finish with a better record.

The only path to Clemson jumping either is a blowout win over SMU, a close Big 12 game and other data points that would help (eg, UGA beating Texas and winning the SEC).

They don’t need to blow out smu because smu is #8 and ISU and ASU are 15 and 16 the 17 team beating the 8 team is more impressive than the 16 team beating the 15 team.

A win over a higher ranked team is one data point, sure, but overall record, wins against ranked opponents, ranking entering the weekend, etc are others. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that Iowa State and Arizona State were both ahead of Clemson entering the weekend. We’ll see.
