NCAA 25 made both my kids cry

So, I’ve officially earned my “Dad of the Year” award tonight. Set my 6-year-old son and 10-year-old daughter up for some good ol' sibling rivalry in NCAA 25. Daughter’s Clemson, son’s UNC—classic showdown, right? I jokingly tell my daughter, “I’ll be disappointed if you lose.” Totally kidding, just trying to hype it up like any good dad would.
I walk out of the room, thinking I’m the cool dad, giving them some space to battle it out. Ten minutes later, my son comes into the kitchen, and I can tell something’s off. He's on the verge of tears, trying to stay strong. I ask him what's wrong, and he says, “Umm, Dad… Clemson’s losing 14-2, and my sister’s REALLY upset. She thinks you're gonna be disappointed.”
Cue the facepalm.
Now I’ve got one kid feeling guilty for winning and the other one stressing about letting me down like it’s the national championship. All because of one offhand joke. What have I done?
So yeah, pro tip: maybe don’t accidentally emotionally scar your kids over a video game. Anyone else manage to derail family fun time like this?

Sonof is 4. He likes to get laughs by saying outrageous things. Saturday he said "I am going to cheer for the Gamecocks" looking to get a reaction. I (jokingly, but not thinking that this would go over a child's head) said "if you cheer for the gamecocks, you won't be allowed to go to the Clemson game with me this year."
He broke down in tears immediately. I felt like a total ###.

Well, that seems a little much, but uhh... you did at least withhold allowance for saying that sort of thing, right.

We had a Dodge 300 series van, It ain't no minivan folks. She rounded up the troops and had them ready to go to the beach before Sun broke one weekend. I didn't want to go and refuse to be lassoed into a beach trip on my first day off in a couple weeks.
As they backed out of the drive I noticed the sign in the glass just behind the driver's seat on the left side of that van. It was posterboard with huge bold letters which said:
"DADDY WANTED!
MOMMY LOT O FUN!'

I never once had any evidence that she was unfaithful to me while we were married. Not even a rumor or hint. I was completely confident at the time that it was her way of letting me know getting laid again might be a wait for me. Then it wasn't.
She trounced my like a she was jumping up and down in one of those blowup houses you rent for a kid's birthday bash. Secret information hidden deep in a thread here so my son won't find it...
She broke my pecka once and gave herself a hernia on another occasion. We were the perfect match. She actually needed surgery to repair the damage and I didn't want that particular member in a cast so I did not consult a physician.

On the ensuing kick, have her players run the Little Giants trick play. It's Dabo approved.

I remember those day and I promise you, my friend, life will never be better. Treasure lies at your feet. Stoop down and pick it up, don't step over it for anything else no matter of your goals or wishes. In all your life, I promise you, nothing will ever be a dear to your heart as the memories you gather right now.
You might be the richest man I know and I'm so jealous of your fortune.

It’s amazing how smart they are at times but also without a fully developed brain so stupid at times. My Dad probably still thinks I’m an idiot.
