was palming/carrying eliminated as a violation? Why?

Same time as they decided you could take three steps to the basket without traveling.

Somebody is lacking some serious nuttage.

Either just come right out and say " We are no longer calling palming. We will ignore it most of the time, but we reserve the right to call it at any given time", or just make an official announcement ...

"Given how the game has changed and advanced over recent years, the palming violation has been removed from the official rule book as a violation. Players are now free to palm and carry the ball, more or less run with the ball. It should make the game more exciting for all."

Shameless cowards all.

Yes many years ago. You can now take 3 steps and to make the game more exciting you can now palm the ball. Helps with those crossovers before you take your 3 steps to the basket.

These guys have never been taught the right way. Sad.

When did they take away the 3 second in the paint rule out.

this is why basketball is a joke of a sport.

Dec 20, 2022, 9:02 PM

They should allow running with the ball and tackling to make it more interesting. LOL

Then they have to have pads, then helmets, then you’ve replaced traveling with targeting.

nope, new sport

Dec 20, 2022, 9:52 PM

it'd take over football as number one sport, IMO. Think: Rugby on the court. YESSSSS!

I would've made a better grade in middle school PE if they had called things then like they do now. Some of us need 6 or 7 steps to execute a layup!

flag link military_tech thumb_downthumb_up

and they can take 3, 4, 5 steps or ever how many they need

Dec 20, 2022, 10:01 PM

and it all falls under the Euro-step-walking-traveling rule.

Right. It's streetball - nothing more.

loosey goosey with the rules.

It was eliminated about the time they eliminated hard tackling in football.
