Those who are somewhat affluent and live in a bubble where none of their policy ideals impact them, and the poor ones looking for a handout. Nobody cares what the poors think, but the uppity crowd wants to be invited to neighborhood parties so they go along with the nonsense. "Look at me, I put my 8 year old on hormones so they won't go through puberty!!! I'm so progressive!!!"
Both are nauseating and deserve contempt, but the homeless bum sucking D resonates in a story a little better.
