I was to almost all of the northern part of South Vietnam for short trips as a pay officer. Spent a long time around Qui Nhon and Nha Trang, in '66. Of course went in and out of Saigon. Went back for 3 weeks in the fall of '74. Really have no desire to return to see what it is like now.

Give us vets a little more info about places you will be

and post some pics if you are out of the city areas and beaches. Would like to see how places have changed if you are in areas we are familiar with. Thinking (and hoping) living conditions are much more modern in village areas than folks had to endure during very long times of wars. Nobody should have to live in thatched roofed grass shacks with no power source or plumbing.

Will do. We start here in Saigon then hop aboard a Mekong River cruise … our first ever cruise of any sort…then stops along the river and disembark in Siem Reap and the fly to Hanoi for a few days. We added 2 extra days on our own on both ends of the trip. Iwilltry to attach some skyline pics of Saigon. Quite amazing. Plus we are here for the beginning of the New Year.

And other public property in Portugal?
Enjoy your travels, but glad you’re skipping stickers.

That was me sharing the paw. Just like the elderly tnetter who passed away not too long ago.

Using Clemson stickers for vandalism isn't cool

I remember seeing a picture of a public bus with a sticker slapped on it. All that will do is #### off the locals. Would you like someone sticking a gamecock sticker on your car? Do better.

Thank you to all that served. I, too, am of the age but thankfully my lottery number kept me out of that useless war. Lyndon Johnson caused much of the heartache, pain, and sadness by keeping us there way too long.

was, (I think) the last year they drew the numbers for the draft. I remember thinking I would have been "safe" anyway, as mine was 352, or something really high like that. Sad to think that so many lives were randomly changed, and LOST, just because of being unlucky in a number drawing.
Like another poster said, I would have served if called, but can't say that my soul would have been into it. Like many, I suspect, it would have been an exercise in staying alive.
Once again, I thank ALL who served our country in the military, wherever that may have been. But to Viet Nam Vets, a special thanks. You were sorely mistreated by the country whose call you answered, for many years. That, as much as that conflict itself, will always be a blight on US history.
