I was impressed by the new coordinators last night.

Dec 30, 2021, 9:07 AM

I didn’t expect any drastic changes from our previous 12 games this year, but it was good to see that our defense remained aggressive and our offense seemed to have more variety in plays and formations.

I realize that the true evaluation of our coordinators will occur next year after they have had longer to do their jobs, but last night was encouraging to see.

I still think it was a mistake to just promote from within, especially since Dabo didn’t even consider anyone from outside, but he is the coach and these decisions are why he gets paid the big bucks.

Congrats on 10 wins and persevering during a challenging year, Tigers!

This is the passive post. The aggressive will happen in a day or two

It’s not passive aggressive, it’s the truth.***

Dabo was able to get really good coordinators and pay them less than many top schools are paying their coordinators.

Simply remarkable…

I’m sure they’re good

But we will find out if they’re really good in the playoffs.

That’s where we’ve been out coached the last few appearances

Honestly, we don’t know if they are really good coordinators or not.

Streeter has some experience as a coordinator at a much lower level, and Goodwin and Conn don’t have any coordinator experience.

It’s definitely a risk, at least on our side of things, but I’m sure Dabo is super confident in his decision and doesn’t see it as a risk at all.

Time will tell.

I think what you might be missing is that he didn’t hire from within, he brought both guys from the outside with this plan all along, similar to what he mention with grabbing Thomas Austin from Ga State last year as the plan to replace Robbie. The best CEOs plan in advance and don’t have to scramble when a decision is needed, the decisions were made years in advance, and this also helps make sure they are a good fit before they take over a bigger role.

I’m not debating whether they are a good fit on our staff.

Dec 30, 2021, 11:11 AM

It’s clear that they are bright coaches who care about Clemson and are devoted to Dabo’s vision.

The question is whether or not they are ready to be coordinators at one of college football’s top programs that hopes to quickly return to elite status.

If they are ready, and can get us back where we want to be in our play on the field and in our recruiting, that’s great! But if not, how long will it take for them to learn on the job and adjust to their new roles? What if they aren’t capable at all?

We ultimately have to trust Dabo, but you can’t blame fans who have concerns about this.
