I truly take no joy in watching this offense, but

Nov 19, 2014, 11:44 AM

what makes people feel so positive that Cole isn't the best option we have with DW out and Chad K kicked off the team?

I know the stat line.. it blows. Maybe Nick and Stanford guy are worse.

A conversation for how we got here is fair, but can anyone truly say we are better with Cole on the bench?

You can't, unless you've attended practices that is.

Don't love the O, but I love my tigers!

I agree...

At this point, Cole is definitely the best option available. We all agree he had a horrible day in ATL but NFL QBs have bad days as well. I say we protect the ball, play within the abilities of whomever is at QB, and learn to block and run the ball effectively, and we should be fine. It puts alot on the defense but they are good and they should be good. We've got some running backs with size for a change, use them. I really look for Dye to get into the mix at some point and surely that will help. All I am saying is, we have some different RB styles and can mix it up. Shuffle them in and out and work at the running game. Just protect the ball and occasionally throw a pass in there now and then. But I feel like we are forcing passes that are simply not there. That puts alot of pressure on any QB.

True. People here don't know football and blame Cole for everything. Reality ol injuries, inexperienced wr, and rb issues are also factors

Because we hope...

Nov 19, 2014, 12:55 PM

Because human beings hold onto hope. We know what can/can't do at this point but we hold out that hope someone, anyone behind him has the ability to be more effective. Consider this simple question, what does Cole do well?

1. Is he a multidimensional running threat? No. When it runs it looks like he's in slow-motion. He scares no one with his ability to make something happen with his legs.

2. Is he a good drop back passer? Can he thread-the-needle? Does he make things happen with his arm? No. He threatens no one deep and virtually everything he does complete is either behind or within a few yards beyond the line of scrimmage.

3. Does he make good decisions, take care of the ball and allow you to play a field position game? No. He throws into coverage, takes bad sacks and makes critical mistakes that directly result in points for the other team.

What's left? If there's a guy on the bench who can do just one of the things above then we're better off than we are with Cole.

Just my opinion,
Moon

Moondog, I here ya. But don't yo u think the coaches

Nov 19, 2014, 4:27 PM

have that same hope, but don't see anything better during midweek practice reps?
What does Cole do well? Not a heck of a lot, but that does nothing to say Nick is better.

I was struck with the thought that its been years since I've felt this way about our offense with a couple Scar games aside. The constant during those years were the coaches. Did those same coaches all of a sudden start to suck? We just don't have the horses with the injuries we have, and though I don't love Cole, I still have no reason to think another current tiger is more capable.

You are right, although it might be interesting to at least

try Nick this weekend against GS and see how he looks. Who knows? Maybe he'll light it up!
