Fox is about to give ESPN major competition

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/03/05/sports/fox-planning-national-sports-network-it-hopes-can-challenge-espn.html
For Rupert Murdoch, creating a national cable sports network in the United States to compete with ESPN has been his white whale — a tantalizing television opportunity but one of the few fields that his media empire has not conquered.
But two decades after shaking up the sports broadcasting world for the first time by acquiring N.F.L. rights, Murdoch has plans to challenge ESPN head on and claim some of the lucrative revenue that the sports media giant has had largely to itself for more than three decades.
On Tuesday, Fox will announce its intention to start Fox Sports 1, an all-sports network, in August.
The channel will carry Nascar races, Major League Baseball games, college basketball and football, soccer and U.F.C. fights. It will also broadcast studio shows, including one that is to be hosted by Regis Philbin, a celebrated Notre Dame fan.

right?
What you really mean is someone to counter the SEC propaganda spewed out by eSECpn. And you know that's a good thing.

I cant help but think that you woukd love the media bias if you were a member of the SEC. If the ACC had been dominating the nation for almost the last decade and espn talked about your conference all the time woukd you be complaining.
Espn is going to tslk about who they feel is worthy of talking about. In my opinions espn has always had great things to say about clemson and their anchors other than Lou have always given a vote of confidence. Espn is not as biased as you think, that is just what happens when you have some of the best teams in the country playing under one banner.....

When everyone outside the SEC sees the bias and cheers openly against SEC bias (like letting Bama play for a championship with a loss to LSU already) you go on thinking what you thinking.
LOL.

The shove the SEC 24/7 while keeping the other conferences in their place where they will think they can not get more $$$$. FOX will OUTBID ESPN for a conference to push, that conference will then get the breaks that the SEC has enjoyed with a 24/7 network pushing the conference agenda , telling young men where to go. Like I said, which ever conferences get on board with FOX will prosper far above what those that are left with the old network.
FOX has a track record of doing what it takes to be number one, whether it's their NFL,Baseball,Nascar or FOX News coverage. They WILL be number one.

just don't have the content. They hired away Michelle Beadle and put her in a Sportsnation clone(The Crossover)on the NBCSports channel. It feels the same but there is a lot of hockey, which is weird.
Between NBC and FOX, hopefully they can break the ESECPN stranglehold on college sports.
I think if the Discovery networks decide to start a sports station, it'd be done well enough to steamroll ESPN.

networks. $ec folk will watch e$pn and cb$ and Big 12 and Pac 12 folk will watch fox because both will pander to their target audiences. The one positive is there is a chance that this will keep us from having three of the four teams in the playoff from the $ec since the media might divide a little more to sell their product. We're stuck being the stepchild presently in the ACC.
