I though Dj's accuacy was good yesterday and is improved

Sep 11, 2022, 6:20 PM

from last year some. That said a few wr's have no idea what to do when open and a ball hits them right in the hands. They need to get with it or spend time working on blocking because those drops are potential drive killers and game losers. I have wondered if a couple need eye exams.

Yep. Hits them right in the hand and dropped….. kills me. At least 3 dropped yesterday.

The stone hands drops are obvious . . .

but what is killing me is the lack of “high pointing” the throws or even attempting to . . .

a receiver cannot simply continue his route and expect the ball to fall into his hands . . . receivers must out jump and compete for each ball as if it were a rebound in basketball . . . we seem to not have that desire or capability . . .

Don’t get me started on the lack of blocking at the WR position . . . our receivers appear to be soft

I only remember 1 drop yesterday and I think it was by Williams. As far as DJ goes, he has been accurate before and suffered from drops by receivers but honesty compels me to say it is easier to throw when you are not running for your life. Furman was not Ga Tech and La. Tech will not be Wake and State.

I agree with the improvement in Dj's accuracy. He’s put at least 6 throws on the receivers hands

over the last couple of games that have been dropped or not come down with.

Our TE D. Allen (#84) is making the tougher catches at this point. I think B. Collins (#80) is doing some nice things to get open and is making a difference. Williams (#0) is also off to a good start as a freshman.

But otherwise, the drops have to be reduced, no doubt.

We might have the opportunity to hire Jeff Scott back soon. I won't complain.

Hate to say it; I have concerns with the wr coaching.***

we should have gone to the portal to upgrade for this season, an experienced WR can come in and contribute right away

The O-line and WR play is going to have to improve before he can be truly judged. DJ has the tools but after last year and the start of this one with a player in his face or closing in fast on every play he's anticipating pressure so much its smothering him. If he gets a clean pocket and a little time he's pretty dang good, when he's harassed every play he goes into survival mode and it bites him.

I feel running more 2 TE sets with one or the other staying in to block would help him a lot. it could give him an extra safety valve to check down under pressure and get EJ "Dropsie" Williams off the field. Should help the run game too since the blocking there has been leaky as well. Those are my uninformed takes though.
