We obviously dont have the benefit of knowing exactly what was said.

But this seems ridiculous. It would be ridiculous against an early season matchup against USC Upstate. It’s even more ridiculous in an NCAA regional.

IMO the umps are given to much control, the rules open the door for umps to ruin the game by the way they don't have to give coaches or players the same respect that they demand, and there's something about that that's not right. The best way to earn respect is by giving respect and not by demanding it IMHO!!!

This reminds me a whole lot of a young Dabo talking to the media and going off on the word “##########”. In one interview he had the full support of all our players, recruits, parents. Looks like Bakich is on the same path. Can’t wait to see where he takes our program.

It’s the SEC, I mean, NCAA. So do you expect anything more, I mean, less? Sitting back for the screw job getting ready to happen in Omaha. Last year made the program stronger and this year will do the same. Go Tigers!

Practice our Free Bakich and Free Leggett chants for next season! It won’t get their suspension lifted but it would be fun to annoy the umpires especially if it was the same crew.

I wouldn't hold my breath. The crew chief on that crew is one of the few openly gay officials in all of sports. He's virtually untouchable for accountability and reprimand. All he has to do is holler discrimination and the NCAA will fold on any ruling against him. The most you may ever see come out of this is a reduction to one game suspensions for CB and JL. In essence, that would be them compromising short of an admission of injustice.

If Caglione would’ve been tossed as he should’ve been, they lose their SP, they were on fumes in the bullpen as far as available arms they trusted. They ran Neely out there two days in a row and extended him both days. We win the game handily.

Then he’s out for game 3, so we can pitch more aggressively to their lineup and they’re out of pitching and their best hitter.

We’d be making plans for Omaha.

NCAA officials ruled with double standards because if it’s by the book we’d be back in the CWS. But kudos to the tigers for never backing down. Saying the umpires had no impact on the outcome though is just head in the sand at this point.

100% agree. I've been screaming this since it happened. You either call the game by the book with zero grey area or you let the kids play, but you can't keep picking and choosing times to enforce unwritten or written rules throughout the game.

By the book:
You warn both dugouts as soon as Caglione threw his bat and screamed after his 1st inning HR. Then in the 2nd you toss him and Nawrocki. I don't think Nawrocki did anything to warrant ejection but as an ump you have to set a precedent at that moment of how you intend to call the rest of the game, so you toss both and move on. Had that been done correctly the outcome of this game is drastically different as well as game 3.

Let them play:
You break up the dust up in the 2nd inning, send everyone back to their dugouts, and play ball. Nothing else said or done the entire rest of the game warrants ejections or discussions in huddles. The huddles killed our momentum neutered the crowd numerous times throughout the ball game.

Not necessarily. Granted, we may have lost anyway, but the game just as easily could have turned around and gone the other way. I'll agree, however, that we did make too many mistakes.

This is straight up trash by the umps and NCAA. 2 game suspension is ridiculous and the ACC needs to do something like the SEC did his year with most of their ejections being overturned from the UGA- Mississippi state game. I wish there could be some protest that the Clemson fan base could do against the NCAA.

I became a big fan of Coach B when he climbed the wall at the Cajun Cafe last weekend. This just solidifies my opinion. If I had a son who played baseball I would want him to play for Coach Bakich. Love the energy, passion and enthusiasm.

I didn’t know that “inciting the crowd” was grounds for ejection in baseball. Is it in the rule book? I’m being serious. Would the umpire have the power to clear the fans out of the stadium if he wanted to?

Most of what the umpire did was because of the Code of Ethics. Not saying he was right at all! I believe that the umpire can have a fan tossed but not the entire crowd according to the rule book.

Code of Ethics
Baseball as a game has been played at the colleges and universities of this country
for more than 140 years. Only the highest standards of sportsmanship and
conduct are expected of players, coaches and others associated with the game.
Coaching/Players’ Ethics
1. It is the coaches’ duty to be in control of their players at all times in order to
prevent any unsportsmanlike act toward opponents, officials or spectators.
2. Coaches are expected to comply wholeheartedly with the intent and spirit of
the rules. The deliberate teaching of players to violate the rules is indefensible.
3. Coaches must teach their players to respect the dignity of the game, officials,
opponents and the institutions that they represent.
4. Coaches must confine their discussion with the game officials to the
interpretations of the rules and not challenge umpire decisions involving
judgment.
5. “Bench jockeying” will not be allowed. Coaches are to prohibit bench
jockeying, which would include personal and malicious remarks, cursing and
obscene language toward opponents, umpires or spectators.
6. Coaches must refrain from any personal action that might arouse players or
spectators to unsportsmanlike behavior.
7. Coaches must expect from the umpires a courteous and dignified attitude
toward players and themselves.
8. Coaches must seek help from school administrators in controlling unruly
students and spectators.

Were the fans throwing things or entering the field of play? If they were then the umpires would have a case against Coach Bakich, but if he was inciting them to make noise and that’s all they did then the umpires were “off base.”

Seems to me that the CU AD needs to get behind the coaches, probably behind the scenes, and work to have this travesty fixed. We got hosed by this incompetent crew, and it doesn't take a MLB player to see that. When was it the NCAA screwed NCSU - two years ago? I guess it was our turn to get it. The ACC has 4 teams in Omaha. It will be interesting to see how they prevent one of them from winning it all this year.

I'm going to miss sitting on pins and needles waiting for this baseball team to pull another game out with two out in the 9th inning. Thank you guys for an exciting season. You deserved better officiating - win or lose. Go Tigers.
