I think we may be hitting GT at the right time...

After losing their second OT game in conference play, they looked like they didnt care to play against MTSU. I know people say, "Theyll be mad". Nope. When you essentially lose your division just a quarter into the season, then get smacked in the mouth at home by a midmajor, you collapse. Their only chance is making it to a BYE week where they MIGHT recover mentally. I think we beat them handily.
Once we come out of our BYE week, I think we'll see a much improved D, much like what Vic did in 05 after we came out of our BYE. I dont see this D being as good as that one was the second half of the year, but I do think theyll be solid.
Ive been extremely tough on BV and the D thus far, but I saw a ton of positives today that gave me some hope. BV ran more zone, and when we did so with a four man front, we held up nicely. Man coverage still hurt us, so we may see even less of that in the coming weeks. The LBs attacked and the DBs forced runs back inside instead of allowing rushing yards outside of the tackles.. Great to see that.
The best part was that they held up three times when BC was given the ball in plus territory. BC didnt really drive the ball down our throats, they just hit several big plays. I think those busts can be fixed in a BYE week. I say that because the bust seemed to be more about schematics than it did lack of talent or ability.
Im much more optimistic about this teams potential than I was last years team. It was hard for me to stay overly optimistic about last years team because we couldnt play D, but I think we saw several good signs today that this D is FINALLY headed in the right direction.

We should have ran a 4 man front vs FSU but instead ran 3 down lineman and gave up huge yardage.

regreted doing it. If I had to guess, Id say he wanted to take out a DL and put in another LB or DB so we'd have a quicker unit on the field to stop those sweeps that FSU ran the 1st half so well.

GT looked bad in the games before they played Clemson last year, and we remember how that turned out. GT is always motivated against the Tigers.

GT didnt care to play at all. I dont see how they can recover mentally without a week off.

GT doesn't have the talent. GT is not getting the recuits it did a few years ago. If Clemson play solid they should be 10-1 heading into South Carolina.
