What does he mean by an "illegal protest"?
He crossed a (well...another) line with this proclamation. As Spoon said, it's not his place to declare what will happen to protestors.
No one will accuse me of being a "liberal" on this issue. I honestly have no problem with someone here on a student visa getting kicked out if they publicly support terrorist organizations, and Hamas and Hezbollah are terrorist organizations (this is not opinion, this is the started position of the US government). I have no problem deporting someone if they are here on a student visa and are arrested during a protest (obstructing, intimidating, vandalizing...whatever). And I agree with the concept that people breaking the law during protests should be arrested (which sounds absurd, but when you think back to the BLM protests, there was a lot of "your fury is justified" nonsense). But this proclamation, which is not his to make, is a threat for everyone to "pipe down".
My goodness, he and Putin should just get a room already.

Not sure with it being Trump and all but he has said in the past that people who are here on student visas and engage in antisemitic activity, which I suppose might include screaming about hating jews and/or Israel when demonstrating, would be deported. So perhaps not technically illegal to hate jews but definitely deportation worthy behavior since we don't really need to import any jew haters into our country.

I assume he's talking about the recent "protests" at Barnard College, near Columbia where masked pro hamas protesters assaulted an employee there because they were upset a couple of their comrades got expelled for disrupting an Israel history class.
Nearby at Columbia Jewish hating students recently shouted for an intifada revolution (otherwise knows as a pro terrorist message).
If these students responsible for these actions are here on student visas it doesn't seem unreasonable at all to send them back to whatever #### hole country they call home.
Seems like breaking into school buildings and assaulting it's employees while calling for a terrorist revolution against Jews may perhaps be illegal on some level, even though the lefties are probably ignorant of these things since you aren't gonna see them on MSNBC.
