As little money as the state gives Clemson at this point

Apr 22, 2015, 7:21 PM

it's pretty ridiculous that we have to go through an approval process to buy any big ticket item.

I have to agree, and when I heard we were getting a Jet bc it had been approved by the state, I had to take a double take and I was still asking my self why would need any kind of government approval on how Clemson spends Booster or IPTAY money. We can't do this and can't do that, please read the sign!!!

Yep--we are practically a private institution

Apr 23, 2015, 7:24 AM [ in reply to As little money as the state gives Clemson at this point ]

As are most of the public colleges and universities in the state. Last I heard, Clemson only gets 10% of its budget from the state. 10%! That's ridiculous. When I was in college in the 90's it was above 50%. How can the state claim to have public higher education when it won't fund it?

Clemson is in the unique position of being compelled to remain a public, state-serving institution due to the way Thomas Green's will is written. But for all intents and purposes, we are operating as a private university.
