At what age do SAS shoes come into play?

I like a good shoe, and it's hard to beat a New Balance 993 with 3M reflector package for comfort and safety on a Clemson sports game day, but I see a lot of men a little older than me wearing SAS. Is it comfort, style, other? Just trying to figure out what all the fuss is about, and I'm admittedly a little hesitant to go into the SAS store to try them on myself.
This is a serious question.

I see SAS shoes in the same light. The slight discomfort on game day is a small price to pay. I have a Dedazzling kit I can let you borrow. Nothing like adding a little orange/regalia bling.

I wore SAS for many years that I spent standing on concrete in my 20’s and 30’s. I learned about them from a couple nurse friends and a pastor who used them while refereeing basketball games.
The SAS dealer in Charleston at the time also carried Rockport. When I said I wanted to switch to Rockport once just to get the difference, he told me not to bother wasting my money because I’d come right back to SAS.
I’ve gotten away from SAS because my work no longer justifies paying $200 for my work shoes, but I’m considering going back for exercise shoes.
There might be other companies that make a more modern product, but SAS shoes are top quality, almost all models were hand-sewn, the materials won’t wear out, they are easy to care for, and the walking shoes have lots of room in the toe area—a major factor for me.
Also, they do have models that don’t scream “Septegenarian!” So the age at which you switch is based on which color socks you use to accessorize.

Many nurses and waitresses begin wearing SAS in their youth. The San Antonio Shoe Co. is known for fighting fatigue. As for velcro...it should be reserved for kids who can't tie their shoes, the elderly who can't reach their feet and diabetics who suffer from midday swelling and need to adjust frequently.

Skechers are much more comfortable & look sporty for elite senior athletes. I will endorse the ones that have the astronaut foam & technology in them. The gals might go crazy but probably not!

My wife started wearing SAS shoes in her 20s - on her feet at work and they were not only comfortable, but supportive. I've avoided them only because of the price - since my bar for acceptable shoes is almost always based on price. Have heard really good things about Hey Dude and I wear a lot of Sketchers - and you can get them in about any color.

I made the switch to Skechers about 8 years ago. I also tend to wear my Nike Air Monarchs frequently. And, I do enjoy my Uggs lined house shoes.

I know nothing about SAS. Been wearing NB since 1979. Was running XC in high school and wearing NIKE. My shins and hips were shredded. Switched to NB (which I had never heard of previously). People used to ask me if my shoes were ZIPS. Apparently no one else had ever heard of them either. Anyway, switched and the problems disappeared immediately. These were the shoes.

while wearing shorts. If ankle high only, you’re not there. If 3/4 up the shin or higher, you’re ready. Admittedly it’s a tough call if you’re only 1/2 way there. And for that I’d have to defer to the professionalz.

My late grandma worked there for a long time. She said that a young man like me should have no shame in rocking them, and would be a great addition to any BBQ or lawn activity.
She said there was a stigma about them that made them "uncool" i hope you're mature enough to recognize the construction of a solid shoe foundation. You won't get better than SAS

I’ve been in healthcare for 40 years. Being on my feet for twelve hour shifts had me searching for shoes that give good support and allow the heel of my foot to be seated properly so that I don’t have hip and back pain. Many of my co workers wear SAS and would not dream of wearing anything else. I have found Birkenstocks work best for me. As with SAS they are expensive but completely worth the price. I know this for sure. It doesn’t matter what shoes look like, if they seem to be made for folks of a certain age or if they Velcro. If they give you comfort and support go for it! If your feet hurt you are going to have a really bad day. So wear what makes your feet and body feel the very best!
