I'm iffy on what "sold-out" means

South Carolina announced a "sold-out" crowd about 100 shy of 80,000, but on tv I could see large portions of the visitor side upper deck were vacant at kick-off, and then we all saw how it went from there. Were they counting bodies IN the stadium, or just ticket sales?

Might it have been like the Louisville game, where they didn't even scan tickets, let anyone in who showed up and still couldn't fill the stadium - but still claimed a "full house"?

I think it means the athletic ticket office sold out of tickets. No tickets available from the ticket office. So where did the tickets go? Scalpers and other people thinking they could make a buck bought them. Some made money and some had to eat the tickets.

lots of people stanou can see but in their case sell out was a bit of a td on those ramps at the end where stretch.

U. of S.Carolina should refer to it as "sell out" ... hyping up their fans and then letting them down with bad coaches, making a total joke out of 'student athlete' and treating them to the inimitable environs of The Aluminum Bowl.

Given the Garnet clad clientele in that dump, they give clothes to Columbia's crack-row residents and get them off the street by giving them football tickets. But the crack-row residents are too smart, and burn their ShameCock game tickets to light the crack pipes instead of wasting their time watching the trashy home team.
