and why we have so few good teams vs the SEC. Not that long ago the ACC dominated. Is a Jim Phillips leadership issue or what? Thanks.

I think it's the SEC TV contract money spilling over into basketball

Athletic Departments are using that money to not only get ahead in football, but also to enhance their basketball programs.

It won't just be basketball either. All sports programs at these higher earning media schools have more money to spend each and every year. They're non-profits after all - dollars have to be allocated somewhere.

the ACC is just a strange conference in all sports..........this year the ACC /SEC basketball challenge was a joke......and yet if the ACC takes down Tennessee at some point they will have knocked off not only the top 3 SEC teams but 3 out of the top 4 best teams in the country........no other conference has done that.

same is true in football......people all laugh off the ACC.....until of course the whistle is blown and your in the 8th overtime begging the refs for a 5th mulligan so you can "win" the game.

Wait til the end of the year… the acc will have just as many if not more teams in the sweet 16 and elite 8 just like they have the past few years… numbers don’t lie just wait til the end of the year
