I think he is best coach in the nation, in terms of the type of program he runs, the demand of academic performance, the clean program, the character development, the winning, etc....there is no coach I'd rather have my son play for. I do not share Dabo's die hard Christian beliefs either. That is irrelevant. He stands for something, and if you fall for anything, you stand for nothing. Some of you would rather have a win at all costs, ruthless coach....we would be Georgia off the field. Arrests, etc., all type of BS covered up, grad rates down in the 20% area. A lot of us remember that AT Clemson. There was a big weed element IN the program in the 1990's. Arrests, etc.. I knew kids who went on recruiting visits and their parents told me that no way their kid was going to Clemson. The grad rates up until Dabo were terrible. GPA's were comical. Better under Bowden, but before TB, they were a joke. Dabo is not perfect, but what he is is a man, a leader, who STANDS for something. When the Tigers go on another run, we will all cheer like hell. He is the best coach in America to me in terms of his total program, AND he has won it all. He will again, and I'll stand by him, and stand and applaud him, period.

Without BV, Clemson doesn’t go to any CFPs.

It’s obvious. When BV left, our program went downhill.

I think we’re confused at what “coach” means.

It’s a coach’s job to hire those guys, but they don’t do everything for him. Dumb response.

I.M. Ibrahim is probably the best coach in any sport in Clemson history. He literally built the Clemson soccer program from scratch. Won 2 National Titles, 6 Final Four appearances, 11 ACC Tournament titles and 13 regular season titles. He had a Herman Award winner (award for soccer’s best player). And on top of all that he had a PhD in chemistry that he earned from Clemson.

Wouldn't be surprised if Noonan gets a few more Natty's and tops him there. But Ibrahim made that possible and I was privileged to grow up in the 80's and see the ridiculously talented players he brought in. Many were South American which you don't see at US colleges much anymore. Best players in the world. Imad Baba, Andres Also, and on and on. Fun times just like now. Come out Sunday!

Yours is based on achievement and not the difficulty of the task at hand. I was there when he won in 1987 . Pretty thrilling moment. But one could argue that the shear magnitude and enormity of a college football roster, facilities, appearances, expectations, venue, scrutiny makes it harder than soccer, in my opinion.

Larry Penley is in that discussion too. With regard to quality of men - Dabo has done an incredible job.

Most people measure success of our FB program with wins, losses, and championships. Dabo measures success of our program with graduation rate, grade point average, the character of our players, and their development while they're at Clemson and beyond.
Yes, the wins/losses/championships are important to him also, but they're not the MOST important. As an alumni, I am VERY proud of the program he has built. And yes, the wins and championships are a nice bonus.
