with football also or we will separate completely and have no affiliation with them. They get 17 million from our poor conference each year and they just got 14 million sharing with no one for winning the game over Georgia. Besides with their NBC contract they get last time I heard 4 million each regular season game. This does not even count their fan base contributing big time. They use this money to but Hartman from WF last year and our WR Collins Duke’s QB Riley Leonard Gamecocks FG kicker and others on this team that have allowed them to get to this point. They are using our money to beat our butts and laughing at us as being fools. ND come into the conference or it is over and we will keep our 17 million for our teams. ND is laughing all the way to the bank while buying our best conference players. They will never join the ACC in football. If they ever join a conference it will be the Big 10 at their doorstep. Thanks Swofford for also handcuffing us until 2036.

Absolutely they would b/c every other team had to share that $14m bonus as a final 4 team with their conference, while Touchdown Jesus got to keep every cent of their $14m.

Collins was not one of "our best conference players". Not even close. He wouldn't even be a top-4 WR on our current roster.
You don't think the ACC has already tried to convince Notre Dame to join the conference?

I do and they have refused. Why give them 17 million from our conference when they have enough money to buy our conference?

We need to cut all ties if they refuse to totally join the conference which they won't. They will get a new, independent TV contract and things will continue for them for years to come.

THIS
We had one shot at forcing their hand. Join the ACC fully or forgo an entire football season.
But we blew it, completely inept leadership. Never let a good crisis go to waste

You're not wrong, my take was from the fan midset. I would have LOVED to see us make them make a decision. Long term independence or miss an entire season of FB.

value to the conference's media deal than they pull out. They only get a 20% cut of the annual program media payments and they don't get a chance for a CFP berth via a conference championship route. They are essentially paying in for the scheduling opportunities it offers their other sports and ensuring they'll have enough P5 football opponents for a bona fide annual slate.

Really? They are 1/18th of the conference but get 1/5th of the money? That's insane.
Or are you saying they only get 20% of what a real member gets?

the ACC generated a record $706.6 million in gross revenue in 2022-23, distributing an average of $44.8 million to its 14 football-playing members. Notre Dame, a member in all sports but football, received $22.1 million.

I had understood their deal as 20% of what an individual member gets, but that's just from the media rights portion. Poster above is including all of conference revenues so not sure how it all breaks down after the ESPN portion.

Every conference member got a $3M per year bump from ESPN when ND agreed to partial membership. They also provide a name brand opponent for the ACC which is something the conference desperately needs.
Seems you want to cut off your nose to spite your face so it's a hard no from me unless you can kick in the $3M per year to make up the loss.

As mentioned above, the ACC does not have that kind of leverage. Particularly now that Notre Dame has rediscovered their football program.
I would caution those who want to continue to bash the B1G and the SEC. One day Clemson will be in the P2.

The tv executives agreed to pay the ACC millions of dollars a year more if ND played a 5 game ACC schedule every year.
That money is then divided amongst the remaining ACC schools and makes each AD budget larger.
Finally…and most importantly…the larger athletic department budget means a proportional raise of hundreds of thousands dollars more for the Athletic Director.
So if you are wondering why the ACC and their Athletic Directors have voted for this you can look at their paychecks.
This was not done as a charity case for Notre Dame.

Once and for all, when you are Notre Dame, you hold the cards and are not told anything and that is really not hard to understand.

You nailed it. ND is a selfish overated bunch who takes advantage of the ACC schedule and other conferences schedule in FB while contributing nothing. I would never pull for them to win chit. ACC needs to tell them to join the conference in FB or hit the road with their other sports and quit scheduling them. The SEC and BIG arevfed up with them using their conferences while contributing nothing and are going to quit scheduling them. At one time both conferences wanted ND, esp. BIG but now they don't need them and the SEC certainly doesn't need them. So, the SEC/BIG have decided to quit helping ND with their scheduling.

I just wish they would drop the non con game football scheduling agreement with them. We can find home and homes with the SEC,B1G and Big 12. The Notre Dame game was exciting in 2015 when it was new seeing them on the football schedule but they bore me now.
If the ACC and B1G would grow a pair and stop helping fill out their football schedule that would drive them into a conference faster than anything. The SEC schools already don't schedule them much.
