… with everything I’ve heard over the last 6 months… Wes can recognize schemes very quickly. In the past, he had to pass that information on to Venables and then the plays were sent in. Sometimes it seemed like it took too long to send in the plays.
But now, Wes doesn’t have to communicate that play to anyone .. he can see the scheme, determine the play, and send it right to the players.
I think we’ll see our defense react a whole lot quicker… and I’m excited for that!!

Yes, very nice post. Wes also (from what I've read) is sold on the modern day backer. Speed. That's where I thought you were headed with it. Leaner vs being a thump and wrap run stopper. True, you still need to have those skills but speed to cover. O410 won a lot of B1G games by creating mis matches with old style linebackers. Venables believed in it too but I think Wes is trying to take it next level. Gonna be fun.

I think he was on the headsets with the defensive staff and BV, and I believe much of the input came from Wes. There's a very good reason Coach V tried to steal Wes to Oklahoma.. it was because he's a defensive genius and has been a huge part of our success. Dabo realizes this as well.. the very second Coach V said he was going to Oklahoma, Dabo had already made the decision.
I think from a knowledge and playcalling standpoint we are in great hands. It's an added bonus that Wes is impressing recruits with his personality and genuineness.

This again tells me Swinney hit it out of the park. Weslychek has a great defensive scheme, it appears, but his strength will be in his relationships with his players, just as Coach V was. From what I can tell, the same is true on the offensive side, but we have less data to work with.

Even though cheating is legal now, Georgia and Alabama will find new ways to twist things so 3rd is best possible, but it’ll probably be something higher. But, so what, Clemson spanked Bama with 6-10 ranked classes compared to #1s. Plus, recruiting services kiss up to SEC fans because they’re the brainless, toothless, morons that pay the bills.
