Oh boy, looks like we have another QB controversy brewing

Let's hope Dabo handles this one better than he handled the QB controversy last year.

You are so right. Last year was a total disaster. We had too many bad decisions in going 15-0 and destroying everyone we played on the path to our 2nd National Championship in 3 years and 4 playoff appearances in a row.
Dabo needs to get his act together and stop recruiting all of these talented players.

it does make his decision making so tough, especially when he is trying to light a fire under the man up through verbal praises by the way of the media, you know, coach speak!!!!

You can choose to ignore all of the mistakes
Apr 23, 2019, 10:17 AM

Dabo made if you want to, but I will not. Dabo has come a long way but last year's disastrous handling of the QBs proves he still has a long way to go. It resulted in our #1 QB transferring, then our #2 QB got hurt right away and that left our #3 QB in a position to save our entire season.
Sure it worked out that time, but what if it hadn't? If we lose to Cuse and miss the playoffs, you'd be looking back at that moment and calling for Dabo to be fired.

article I sent Dabo a fax this morning to provide him with my opinions on how he should handle this situation in contrast to last year's disaster. You can bet that I will be attending the next Prowl n Growl to make sure he saw my fax and answer any questions he may have.
Look, college football is all about "what have you done for me lately?" And every day that passes by is another day removed from the 2 national championships Dabo won. If he doesn't win another one soon then some difficult decisions need to be made.

Wow. Just.........wow. two championships in three years and coach gets that little leeway? I'm hoping our bot doesn't feel the same as you. For the record given the football program we currently have "what have you done for me lately " extends much farther out imo. We all should understand just how difficult it is to find a coach the caliber we have now and have more patience.

Rally Cat at Clemson, which would explain the overabundance of emotions, but this is big time college football. It's a business and emotions should not be part of the decision making process. If so we'd give Dabo a lifetime contract today. But the reality is, we should expect to win a national championship in football every year and anything less is a failure. Looking back Dabo has failed to win it all a lot more than he has won it, which is a tremendous red flag. I don't think we can continue to tolerate only winning a national championship 2 out of every 10 years. We're Clemson, we're better than that.

Only thing Dabo arguably did wrong was not waiting until after Bryant played in five games to bench him. That would have taken transferring off the table end kept the position stacked the rest of the season. The fact Dabo didn't do that, however, actually speaks to him not being that kind of coach which I think most of us would prefer.

our best QB was.
Personally I would've lined them up by height and whoever was tallest gets the start. 2nd tallest goes in 2nd, 3rd tallest...well you get the picture.
That way expectations are set in stone from the beginning and it gets rid of this whole "trying to figure out who was better in the last practice" thing that Dabo attempted - and failed I might add.

Taisun is why I don't care if we land DJ or not. 2 more years of TL. Then maybe Brice for a year or Taisun for 2 years after. We're set for 4 years. Moreover, we will sign a stud in 2021 too. It's not a position of need. I hope we land DJ, but it's not needed.

Imo, Dabo recruits great HS QBs to evaluate if they can adjust to the next level. Not all can against the competition we play. Kelley had his issues and so did Cooper and Johnson. They were really good but not good enough. Competition brings that out. I think Dabo and Streeter have got it right.

Having potential QB situations to deal with is a great sign that you’re recruiting is on a higher level than those who don’t have controversies! Loving it! Keep getting high quality players & let the playing time sort itself out on the field! Go Tigers!!!!

Most impressive thing about Taisun in the spring game was his pre-snap clap. Did anyone else notice how loud it was? He must have huge hands! Sounded like he slapped the guy in the row right in front of me every time.

The ball jumped out of his hand. There was serious velocity. Since the camera was down on the field with Herbstreit and Dabo often, there were a few times you could see what the QB saw and see the ball get to the receiver very quickly. I don't think he attempted any longer passes, like 40 yds or more, but his passes were on a line. Small sample size but seemingly impressive velocity. Didn't get to see any touch type passes. He seemed like he could move out of the pocket if necessay as well. Again small sample size.

He has a little bit of a "short arm" delivery. But the ball comes out in a hurry, and he showed good downfield vision on a scramble and throw. Looks like he can really run too. Interested to see what his deep ball looks like.

Doesn’t that mean the defense has an edge because they are looking toward the quarterback, where as our guys have their backs turned toward him?
