This board is pretty quiet now! Hope you all listened to Dabo again about the portal and using it. Wake up people. Just like Dabo said the good guys in the portal already know where they are going because of tampering and most of the rest are guys that are in there are not good enough to play at Clemson. These guys have to fit Clemson’s culture and guys that are in the portal with their hands out for money are not coming to Clemson. They don’t fit in and it will ruin the culture of the Clemson Way. If you don’t like Clemson Culture and the way our program is run by our Coach, Dabo then move on and belittle another program. True Clemson Family does not need your support.

Didn't want to get involved in the Cesspool. Didn't like the UGA game. CFB doesn't have a Pre Season, scheduling Conference or ESPN $$$$ games the 1st game is something that should be moved away from. Schedule 2 G5 Non cons ,then the BIG OOC game, then onto Conference games, leaving Chicken for Thanksgiving..

Still left not knowing how good or bad the team is. Same issue we had after week 1. We played the best team in the country and looked awful. We played non P5 team and looked like world beaters.
Not sure either game accurately reflects where the team actually is. The NCST game should finally give us a clearer picture.
Of course the pumpers and the haters will both hate this post as it doesn’t support either side.

Do not agree with you. We played a good team but we did not look awful. Read a very interesting analysis by former quarterback Aaron Murray. He broke down Kade’s performance in the GA game. Step by step the mistakes he made. Hs analysis was that he was he made some very good reads and he was just a little off the mark because he hesitated to throw the ball and had some happy feet going on. He said it as not a bad performance by Cade and totally fixable and he was right. Receivers were running good routes and getting open he just did not release the ball as quickly as he should. He sure had no problems with releasing it this week.

I still feel t the same. One game isn’t a trip to the CFP just as one loss isn’t the end of the world. The problems still remain. Too many nepotism hires and scholarships. Yes, it’s kinda cool to see Clay Swinney catch a ball during garbage time. But, Dabo can afford his tuition instead of the scholarship he has given that could have went to say a starting level defensive end from the portal. How much better off would we be with a game changing DE?! We’re so thin at that position Peter Woods is playing out of position. One offensive explosion doesn’t fix the clear slide since 2018. The win total have gone down while the losses go up. We’ve lost 11 games in 2.1 years!!! We had senior classes with less losses over four years! That’s the standard Dabo set.
It’s also painfully obvious that Westco and Moore should have started against UGA. How different would that game have been? The offense sustaining drives allowing the defense to rest. Why the stubbornness to start upper class men regardless of lack of skill? Turner isn’t in the same league as Westco. He isn’t even as good as Tyler Brown. His scholarship is because his late father was Dabo’s roommate in college. I digress, Westco and Moore made the defense play honest. They couldn’t stack the box and play zero coverage or a single high safety and it opened up the entire field. Georgia played zero coverage (straight man to man) most of the night allowing the safeties to play run support and shut down the middle of the field. When you have elite speed and separation it makes the defense use the safeties to help cover instead of stacking the box.
I hope you’re right, though. Perhaps this was the AHA moment for Cade and the offense. Maybe we make a run can win it all. I’d be over the moon. The sample size is just too small. We’ve seen 6 years of decline and one game of Clemson football. Let’s revisit this after game 12 and see where we stand. The problems didn’t happen overnight and fixing them won’t happen overnight.
That said, Go Tigers! That’s he one thing we can agree on! I’m ok with that! Different viewpoints make the world interesting.

Just like it was painfully obvious last off-season that we needed to portal OL, WR, QB - but not one mention of PK from the 'experts' that wound up being the actual 'obvious' deficiency in several of our early losses? How different would our season have gone had we beat FSU at home instead of losing in OT? Were we still in the driver's seat for an ACCCG berth do we crap the bed versus Miami and NC State?

Exactly. Clemson fans should be FURIOUS at Dabo for not playing those guys. It should have been obvious who the best players are in practice. He had all offseason to figure it out. What's his excuse? He didn't want to show the mighty ACC his best players?

I'm not convinced that Dabo's positions on transfers, NIL, and coaching hires are going to get us back to consistent elite play.
Game 1 was Malfoy. Game 2 was Harry Potter.
Maybe Game 3 will be Hagrid.

Still feel the same, not using the portal at all is a mistake. I don’t want a team full of transfers but it’s ignorant to say we don’t have 1-2 holes in the depth chart and could use some experience to plug them. I fully understand going after character and culture fits to avoid getting divas on the team who will hurt morale, but to say every single player in the portal is just chasing NIL is ignorant and lazy. We need to do our diligence on the portal players same as high school recruits, and we need to do it with an open mind. Not just trash the portal and the players in it any chance he gets a hot mic in front of him.
College football is changing, and it’s not going back. We need to adapt if we want to keep up. 1 win against a SunBelt team doesn’t erase our recent struggles against top tier teams.
We all want the same thing on this board, to see the Tigers succeed on the field. I’d love to be wrong on the portal but when we’re literally the only school not using it you need to step back and think if it’s really the right hill to die on. The service academies don’t count for this because you literally need a congressional letter to transfer out and there’s not likely many young men transferring INTO a 5 year military contract after college

I rarely do more for two reasons: I work and don't have a lot of time to wage internecine warfare AND Clemson has neither called for advice nor offered me the HC job...both smart takes on their part! lol

I felt prior to season that this team w/ a very manageable schedule would be 9-3/10-2. The 9-3 was dependent on "how good" VT/NCstate/FSU was...........after the first 2 weeks they are NOT GOOD, so we "should" go 11-1. We still may lose one to the schedule, but the ACC has nothing to compete with Clemson w/ the exception of maybe Miami and we won't see them until the ACCCG.
-Cade, as I've been saying is/was receiving WAAAAAY more of the blame than he deserved.
-the PLAYS and tempo looked much different than before, which still makes me question the tug-o-war of playcalling w/ Dabo..........who knows.
-lack of "ELITE" talent on offense is why we've struggled the last 4 years......hopefully the Turner/Stellato/Hannifin/Taylor "TYPE" projects are done this year unless it's in mop up duty.
-Why Dabo slowplayed Wesco/Moore is beyond me.......they should've never been behind Turner/Randall/etc.... Just like Stoudt should've never been behind DW4. We finally have a deep threat potential at WR and hope that it continues the rest of the season.
-nonetheless, a win over App State doesn't change my opinion/outlook on Grisham, the portal/NIL, and how we fare against "ELITE" teams.
Everybody plays cupcakes, but to set a record on offense like that REGARDLESS of opponent was refreshing to see and hopefully it continues the next 13+ games.

OK, I'll say I was wrong.
I thought the offense was bland and predictable and that this game was going to be much closer. I also believed the defense really had to pay attention to Aguilar and their WR's.
Cade played the game we've all been waiting for him to play. A year ago, I would have expected the downfield passes in the first quarter Saturday night to be 10 feet long or totally off line.
Yes, it was against App St. But we have faced much weaker competition than we faced Saturday and never put up video game numbers like the Tigers did in the first half.
I will continue to comment on things that I don't feel are quite right. And gladly be wrong every time.

the team. My doubts and concerns were overwhelmed with the remembrance that Dabo was successful in exceeding what was required to achieve many more times than he failed. I'm delighted to know that this is the one team in America that can produce the nearest to perfect I've ever seen. And, it's our team.
That's why I defend Dabo's decisions, we've seen the first 15-0 record in football and it was our team that did that. You've got to know that even when others achieve that type of goal Dabo was first.

"Under the interim policy, schools can inform student-athletes about potential NIL opportunities and can work with an NIL service provider to administer a “marketplace” that matches student-athletes with those opportunities. They cannot, however, engage in negotiations on behalf of an NIL entity or a student-athlete to secure specific NIL opportunities.
Notably, administrators are not allowed to seek or negotiate contracts for athletes. Conference and athlete TV revenue sharing is also impermissible. And an athlete is prohibited from using their NIL to promote a sporting event."

to the team performance. Against UGA not so good, but a very very very tough opponent to being the season. Saturday was wonderful, things that were missing showed up including the deep passing game to some stud receivers. Work the middle of the field, use Birningstool to control the ball, run Mafah out on the edge at times and not just up the middle.
You have to admit that the UGA game was ugly, even our Coach said it. Surely some fans on a website can exude some disgust with what they witnessed as well.
We will all be OK, and win or lose I am a Clemson Tiger fan through it all.

should have expected to see one such perfect offensive display. None of us, including you, ever saw such a perfect game this early in a season. That just doesn't happen because it's impossible to polish players this early in a season. Fact, the results of Clemson's offensive performance unheard of after just two games and what we see in the post season is seldom as good.
Rule of thumb is that defenses are more progressed than offenses this time of the year.

Dabo said the 2nd half against UGA was "absolute crap". I agreed in my posts. I guess me and the head coach are not all in. I appreciate the offer to go cheer for some other team, but I'll pass on entering the fan portal.

I don't know how I feel. We played a lesser opponent than the one last week. While APP State is capable of beating Clemson, they didn't. I think the game against NC State will tell us much more about this team, rather than this past game.
Cade looked great this past week. It finally looked like it clicked for him. I didn't see the normal gazelle looking lost. The playbook seemed to be opened up this week. But the star for me was WESCO! That kid can be something special. TJ Moore as well. It appears we hit on those. I hope what we saw this past weekend is a sign of things to come. Time will tell.

I posted about Cade and Grisham.
Will happily eat crow if the year resembles 75-80% of what we saw on Saturday night.

And you old-azz Karen's can take a seat. D&mn near none of you understand the sport whatsoever and only apply your erratic emotions when sticking up for Dabo like he's one of your kids.
We had one good night game against a Division-2 opponent, at home, after 3+ years of complete mediocrity
We need depth - if nothing else - at OL. After all recruiting-whiffs we had with Thomas Austin, nonetheless.
USE THE PORTAL - NOT YOUR EMOTIONS.

And this is exactly why you have a 50% pulse. No further explanation's needed. Get some Oxygen you will need it before this year is over. Just watch and see.

Pretty dang good. Glad the coaches finally decided to put our two best WR's on the field for a change. And pass downfield. And attack the MOF.

Beating up on Appalachian State was a super fun game, but it does nothing to address the fact that we are no longer an elite program.
If Dabo can make the playoffs this year and perhaps win a game, I will gladly acknowledge that we are improved and had a good year.
Anything less, and you and your fellow Dabo cult members will be back to defending him and rationalizing our underachieving ways.

OL better under a proven coach
O better with Dabo not holding the “menu”
Freshman receivers are better because Grisham and Co haven’t deprogrammed their superior high school coaching.
Anymore dumb questions?

Dabs is no dummy for sure. I believe as he watched that million dollar lake view every evening, he prob took in a little tigernet and decided to shelf the Waffle House menu and let Garrett do what he does.

Personally I feel great. My issue has never been over portal use. My issues are talent evaluation on offense and position coaching not developing players.
