...programs did the ACC tack on extra penalties for their NCAA infractions? If the answer is none, that should tell you all you need to know about the good ole soon to be dissolved s-hole of a conference .

desert a few years like they did, as an Independent in football and Metro for basketball. We would've been available when the SEC came calling. As they were...
It aggravates me to no end that SCAR & Maryland have ended up in the catbird seat.

Clemson won 3 Nattys in football after SC left the ACC and 2 of them came after SC and Arkansas joined the SEC. Neither SC nor Arkansas have gained anything but money from being in that league. Nebraska has been worthless since joining the BIG10. What good happened on the field for Penn State when they joined the Big Ten?
The grass always looks better in some other pasture.
I am a Clemson fan not a fan of any conference, but the ACC has been a good place for Clemson to be most of the last 70 years. The current bitterness is a bad thing and I am on CLEMSON's side.
But I am delighted we did not leave the ACC over the 800 rule the way SC did. We have been smarter and better led than SC forever.
Go Tigers!!

was not involved in the extra year which I can accept. However there is no getting around he jumped on Clemson first about camp unis and was penalizing us a few years ago (girdle gate). We pointed out several other schools were doing the same thing and he had to relent.
I hope he gets called to Pickens to testify so we can tow his car again like the night the ACCN went on the air.

Swofford was a festering pusshole on the ACC's butt.

Since pus has one "S", I'm trying to figure out the implication intended. Renaming something sphincter-ish, referring to pus but misspelled, or a weird mashup of anatomical parts.
All good, and all amusing. How the mind wanders.

over the years asserted my firm belief that Swofford was indeed involved in that extra penalty, as reports all along indicated it was he and the Duke AD who concocted the idea,
Wags alleged that the Faculty Reps to the ACC were the only parties to that travesty, but my contention then and now has been that no group of frigging faculty reps would have dared impose such without coercion or guidance from above. Meaning simply, there were marching orders from AD's and additional school chiefs.
Swofford's denial of involvement was, is outright chicanery, distortion or lies in my opinion and others, as well. I know our own David Hood investigated and reported the issue, but in all due respect to David, I was in my early 30's at the time, an IPTAY scholarship donor, a multi-seat holder and a contributor to the large Columbia Iptay Club. I knew virtually all of the big time Clemson donors and leaders within the club, and most all of us were in agreement about what happened based on extremely reliable sources from within the ACC.
Our attitude then was for Clemson to tell the ACC to go to he1l and immediately resign from that albatross around our necks. I haven't changed my attitude since.

I can't think of the ACC ever doing that with any other member school, especially with one of the original member schools...

I am an advocate of Clemson being in the ACC, but there isn't much denying

that Clemson has been treated poorly relative to other schools, ESPECIALLY NC schools. More recent examples include the padded practice shorts we wore, for which the ACC was going to come down hard on us (maybe the punishment wasn't going to be extremely harsh...but harsher than "padded shorts" warranted). When it came to light that many other ACC schools were doing the same, including UNC-Ch, it was all "ooooh...nevermind...no biggie...".
And of course, the ACC banning post-season tournaments in the state of SC during all the flag drama. But when the whole HB2 "bathroom bill" stuff started in NC...again...no biggie. No need to grandstand if it impacts NC schools/venues.
My pipe dream would be that Clemson stay in the ACC and we fix the revenue issues and address the inconsistent treatment of member institutions moving forward. The first is obviously a pipe dream, the second might be. But I'm just a fan so I can wish for whatever I want.
