Regarding our tough OOC schedule, it really makes no sense

to schedule teams like UGA now that SCar is very respectable.
I was just glancing through other teams' OOC schedule.
Hardly any team plays more than 1 great team.
Oklahoma plays Tennessee. Auburn plays nobody (unless you count Kansas St) Ok State plays FSU Michigan plays ND Ohio State plays VT
I could go on and on, but hardly anyone schedules 2 hard non conference games. It's honestly stupid. As a fan, it's fun to watch, but it isn't smart.
The easiest path to 11-1 or 12-0 is all you need. Sure, you may get left out one year by going 11-1 or 12-1, but I seriously doubt it. Much rather take that risk than scheduling 2 great OOC teams.
There's a reason why hardly any other team in the country is doing it.

Increases program exposure, which helps recruiting in the long term. Builds the program to a point where we compete for a national championship every year.
Furthermore we have to schedule teams years in advance. It's hard to gauge how good a team will be, same with Lamecocks, they are good now but in 7 years they may only win 3 games that year and we can't have our other OOC games being cupcakes too.

So in 7 years we'll be playing a 3-win Coot team and Wyoming OOC. I like where your head is at young man.

Exactly! We all know Wyoming will be a huge OOC game, but if coots are back to bottom of SEC then our other 2 better not be Presbyterian and Furman

You really want less jawga and more FCS?

I didn't think so. We can play and beat anybody. Things are changing. During such a golden era of CU football let's play the best. Not the weakest. Personally, I want Bama in the 2016 Chic Fil A kickoff.

I think Washington State is poised to be a great matchup in the 2018 Rose Bowl myself.

LOL, that's a good one. Hey did you read the article from Andrea Adelson about how BYU is a good OOC team? LMAO. Maybe for GT but not us. Look, it's ok to play one state FCS team and a Wyoming (I guess). But I'm not opposed to loading up the schedule like say this pipedream ...
2016 Vs. LSU in Atlanta (CFA Kickoff) Vs. Georgia St. @ Ok St. (Home and home) Vs. Coots
Hey if it helps my cause, make CFA sandwiches half off to all Tiger fans on that gameday.

SCar would've been to at least 2 BCS games the last 4 years

if they had just a slightly easier schedule.
At the end of the day, I'd rather make the playoffs than talking about how awesome of a schedule we played.

less games against UGA and Auburn and more on the lines of Vandy, Ole Miss, maybe even a West Va or BYU.
Especially having to play ND during some years, it just doesn't make sense to schedule "elite" programs.
We already have exposure and making the playoffs is all that matters now.

But for right now the playoff committee says they will analyze SOS when selecting the teams.
Also within 5 years or more the playoff will expand to 8 teams. All 5 major conference champions and 3 at large bids.

Uhm, when you pay 1400.00 for two tickets.....it makes a lot

of sense. And, in my opinion, the games against LSU, UGA, OSU have made us MUCH better. I dare say, without those games and the wins, there is no way recruiting would be quite where it is now....
*** and I realize UGA is the only one scheduled. But, if we would have played Georgia State instead, do you think we would have still been picked for the Orange Bowl?

Really Bro! I love having a nice SOS. Look last year we played UGA and SCAR but for the first time I can remember played 2 FCS teams. Now I don't agree with that. I rather face all ranked non conference opp. Look at Coots. Played UNC,UCF,Coastal and Us. pretty touch OCS right there. We should do same. Like Maybe UGA, Oregon or BIG 10 power team, AAC team, and Coots

schedule nonsense. If we're bad enough and tough enough to be the best in the nation, we'll win the games we need to no matter who we're playing. This isn't a sprint we're on to the top, it's a trudging journey.
The more top notch OOC we keep putting on our schedule the better. Like someone said earlier, it makes our team better to take on that level of competition. The national spotlight, and the extra hype and exposure environment of a game like UGA is going to be this year, fuels the Paw and the base like no other. You would trade that for Presbyterian? On ESPN3 at noon? Nuts.

rivalry. SOS is going to be very important for the playoff. You better have some very good teams scheduled because you can not count on the ACC.
