It’s in the article -
“This sprawling city is home to 212,100 millionaires and 43 billionaires, according to a 2024 Henley and Partners report. It also has one of the nation’s largest populations of homeless people, numbering about 75,000 last year.”
I didn’t go to the Henley Report on methodology.
An ‘easy’ count for millionaires might be to start looking at home values and then estimate equity of those homes then take an average of … etc etc. 200k from that standpoint doesn’t seem too crazy.
But it defiantly does not mean cash on hand or equivalents.
And a million in LA net

that Greenville shouldn't have any folks sleeping outside that don't want to be. I figure a lot of places are about the same. Add some showers and toilet to make that better. Put up some cubicles with a cot or two in the and boom.

Most Kohl's certainly are following an outdated model of sq ft and inventory stocking of...everything.
Make sense.

Why would house fires affect the "unhoused"?

I'll freely admit to not reading the article.
But if I didn't have a house before the fires...whats the difference now?

You know, instead of dirty old giesers collecting checks rather than doing the younger generation a favor and croaking already.
Of "progressive" terminologies, I don't see how this one rises to the level of ruffling feathers especially if it gives folks some dignity.

But does it though?

It seems like yet another euphemism that someone made up to think that it made the affected feel better.
The only people who feel better about using the word "unhoused" are the ones who actually have a place to sleep, and made up that term to try an ease their own guilt.
If you are sleeping outside, does it really matter what it's called? Maybe we should start calling it "transitory urban camping". That's sound fun!

It also has an impact on the social discussions as well. Use it, don't use it. Doesn't matter. My point was I don't see how it merits mocking if it is used.
