I hope our coaches and players have a little more respect for our opponent. The chicken defense held Alabama to fewer points than they scored against Georgia. I can’t stand South Carolina. I grew up in Columbia and had to hear their crap in the early1970s when we were not a good football team. However, it’s risky business to discount what an opponent is capable of doing.

UGA was truly the best team in the land according to ESPiN's preseason rankings.
Evidently she thinks Clemson folk are stupidly gullible.

Everyone pre-season anointed FSU #1 acc too. We were overwhelmingly #1 in soccer pre-season.
As for your logic, NOT thinking uga was the pre-season top team makes our lopsided loss even worse. So what's it say about us that every other sec team is lighting uga up?

It says we played our freshmen WRs 12 snaps and 6 snaps.... and Dabo needs to quit holding back the better players.

Actually Alabama hasn’t been top 5 team since second half of UGA game. As UGA not the top 5 team they were week one. Clemson last 40 years didn’t play their best games week one. If Clemson played UGA in playoffs Dawgs go down. Though not sure if Clemson can beat SMU in ACC title game. But will be greatest title game in decades

They will have 7 losses by the time we play them. What a joke. By that time, the NIL players will have mailed it in.

Correct. I will never give a team credit for consistently keeping it close as they become ineligible for a bowl 2 years straight.

She does a current snapshot ranking projection, not seeding, so Miami would be a three seed out of this because it’s ahead of Clemson and then BYU is her picked Big 12 champ for the 4-seed.

I actually think she's spot on. Can't disagree with any of their assessments. But just so we're correct, the acc champ is an auto bye. At least this year anyway. Seems like b1g and sec are trying to change it.. jmho from their meetings.
Bottom line, winning takes care of everything. Who knows where Pitt is when we play. Everyone assume it's Miami but SMU still holds their own fate. Personally, I'm not nearly as impressed with Pitt or Miami as I am about SMU. And I know I've been TD for stating the only decent competition left for us in the regular season is south carolina.
Still, all that is way too many variables to make a prediction. For now they're just guessing but it's fun to debate.
The only other thing I would question is why the heck was Dabo playing our ones after we went up 35-14??? Stupid is my opinion.

gal,
Agree on all counts.
South Carolina just played Bama (a team that was supposed to be pissed off about last week's loss) to a standstill. They could easily have won that game.
Bama may not be invincible, but they are a very strong and talented team. We better bring our A game against them or all of this talk of playoffs will go up in smoke.
All of this braggadocio on here is just whistling past the graveyard.

Dabo was playing the 1s for very specific reasons, you can be certain of that. And if Dabo thinks that is the proper thing to do, I’m totally OK with that. “Stupid “ would mean that he either hasn’t considered the consequences or that he has and chose to ignore them for reasons that aren’t legitimate.
I don’t know what his reasons are but I think I’ll give him more credit that you.

If the Bg10 and SEC are trying to change it than that is another reason for Clemson to get out of the ACC. I agree that we need to keep winning. Dabo might be playing the 1s longer because he saw some things that they need to improve on or that he found out that in a tiebreaker for the CFP they look at offensive and defensive metrics and tge 1s give us better stats.

Fair enough and thank you for the response. Obviously I'm not a coach but I just didn't see anything that would need to be improved upon. Stupid is certainly harsh and probably shouldn't have used that context. Probably the better word would be risky or careless. I just remember fla st last year and I think it happened to Bama a few years back with Tua. And b4 anyone says it, I'm well aware that x player could get hurt on the first play of the game.
Selfishly I'd like to see Vizz and Pearman, ezonome etc. Thanks again.

They want an 8-9 matchup because that's the most difficult first round game.
Win the ACC Championship and avoid that. Or finish 5-7

I reject the SOS and rankings presumption at this point in the season.
Oct 13, 2024, 1:53 PM
|
|
All those type metrics change weekly and at the end the SOS of some of those teams ranked above us could be radically different.
ESPiN is pushing their rankings and pushing SOS which is based on their rankings. WE call that circular logic and that don't float in these parts.

Can't believe some really good people lost their job but Dinich kept hers. What else does she do other than guess at football rankings all year to justify her existence?

See morbidtiger® 's post above.
Just happy T-Net broke this down for me so I didn't have to waste $ on that shill and her paywall.
Like how she moderately qualifies "strength of schedule" and playing "non-ranked opponents" when O310 State is still ranked ahead of us...
