But for real. I did miss the FSU game where they tore down the goalposts for the last time. I was a freshman, but traveling at the time.
One of my favorite non-traditional Clemson memories was finding a roller chair outside the Shoebox dumpsters, and a bunch of us turned it into a nighttime game of rolling down Fort Hill St. to the stadium.
There was also one night we were hanging with some friends over in the high rises, and it started pouring as we were getting ready to leave, and we bolted across campus in the warm post-summer rain.
Also some hippie chick let me PIIHB.

I had a cringey experience at Macs my first week at Clemson. Went with some guys from the hall who I didn’t know well.
One of my hall mates started hitting on the girl behind the bar, who seemed around our age (18 ish). He then invites her to Johnstone Annex and says “we have alcohol” because that’s cool and edgy. I’m sweating uncomfortable. Not sure if it’s the garbage food or social anxiety. She declines and the owner comes over and gets huffy, saying that’s his daughter and that she’s 16 and that he’ll fight us.
Hall mate says “16? That’s old enough to decide for herself” and other inflammatory nonsense and we get kicked out. Never went back. Still friends with hall mate, still think that visit was cringey. Is that the same Mac’s experience everyone has?

of Clemson, I was high AF and have a hard time now separating what was reality versus something I dreamed about later. But if I remember correctly, that place was tiny AF. Like the size of a double wide. Anyways, I didn't hit on any underage girls because groce, so no that's just you.

lived in a house back behind it somewhere. Her roommate liked Mac's so I would go get it, bring it back, eat it, and then proceed to have to go back to my house to take a giant shiddd because that Nasty food just ran right through me.

Week before graduation.
Managed to get into Shilletter and Redfern, because the doors to them were unlocked. Took some pretty cool digital camera selfies.
Grabbed a steam pipe and had a golfball sized blister on my palm. I hoped it would pop when I shook Barkers hand at Graduation, but it didn't.
10/10 would do again.

I have no understanding of how it became some sort of *institution*. Heck, I don't understand how it was able to find a single return customer or stay in business.
My mom took me there when I was a freshman, probably during move-in. I remember the dude being an a-hole.
Maybe I went back once, upon somebody else's request.

Mac wasn't the warmest and fuzziest guy, but he was a nice person and you could have a conversation with him. My grandparents lived right around the corner so I started going there with my grandfather when I was a little kid in the late 70's, and it was great in the 80's as well. When Ted bought in, I stopped going. Dude acted like he hated his customers and they were just a necessary evil for him to make money, and he was a giant redneck racist too. If you never got to go there before he came on the scene, I could absolutely see not understanding the reputation it had.
