who led the Tigers over rival South Carolina while playing on a torn ACL. Or Ronnie Lott, who had his broken finger amputated so he wouldn't miss any games. Or Curt Shilling, who wore a shoe full of blood after having surgery in the training room to repair a torn tendon in his ankle so he could pitch in game 6 of the 2004 ALCS. Heck, as a kid I even pitched the last game of the season barefooted because I couldn't wear cleats because I had blister the size of a silver dollar on my ankle after unknowingly stepping in ashes that were still hot.
I guess I'm from a generation that is just not used to guys taking games off because they could use some rest.

Yessir. The Swamp Fox hit the nail on the head with that post! He has also watched the wussification of the American male with much disdain.

What about the Combine? Never thought I would see the day where players accepted offers to the combine just to sit and not compete. If I was the NFL, I would fix this issue immediately because as the trend goes, these same players will find reasons to sit during NFL games.
The NFL should fine every healthy player at combine 10% of their initial contract if they don't compete. Make it costly to be a wuss as the combine is a big event for NFL and lot of college fans watch to see how their players stackup. Top players not competing will kill the fun of the combine and continue the trend of being primadonna sissies!

No, the NFL should do nothing.
Smart teams should penalize the squatters by drafting them later (and maybe they do). A later draft position affects how much they earn in their rookie deal.
I find I am more of a libertarian at heart the older I get. I want less interference from everybody.

You forgot to mention how our best baseball player is playing this year with only 1 arm. Yet I don't hear Bakich complaining or Cam for that matter.

I used to train by chopping down bamboo trees with my shins. It made me tough and allowed me to avenge my brother when he was rendered paralyzed after fighting Tong Po, a dangerous thug who was involved in organized crime. We did not wear gloves, yet dipped our hands in resin and crushed glass. I beat Po with vicious roundhouse kicks and had to restrain myself from ripping out his throat with my bare hands.. You just don't see that very much from kids these days.

Same thing with young folks not wanting to work more than 40 hours a week bc it’s hard. Well, we need hard workers. I work smart and hard and long and I reap the rewards.

Not his pitching arm, but broken/cracked and in a cast, and Catfish Hunter pitched a no-hitter in the North Carolina championship baseball game … 1968 I think it was … in Greensboro and I was there.
