White House to defy SCOTUS (9-0) decision to return Maryland man.

If the White House chooses not to obey the Supreme Court then we do not have laws anymore, and we are officially a banana republic.
In the meantime, his lynch man, Steve Miller, is suggesting the WH can send naturally born citizens to El Salvador without due process.
If this doesn't scare you as an American, nothing will.

Hopefully the Supreme Court does the right thing.
If they don’t, it’s going to be a frightening 3.75 years.

I love the subway narrative, it happened 2 times in 2024, yet we need 3 more camps? This also reminds me of the official Whitehouse statement, in that they can "deport anyone to el Salvadore legally, if it is before the courts find out", or something to that effect. Imagining the narrative soon to come is that the president of El Salvadore will not release the detainees in question, as it conflicts with their own national policy on CECOT.

He's using El Salvador, and that prison, as an example

It is one of the worst prisons on Earth, and one completely unlike any we could ever have in the US. The abuses, housing, starvation, beating, violence, etc. at that place are on another level from US prisons. So it is being used as a deterrent for illegals captured, and people who stay past 30 days on their visas.
BUT......Trump suggesting homegrown American criminals could be sent there is absolutely chilling. He can't do that, legally. But he wants to. Maybe someone who disagrees with Trump, maybe someone who doesn't vote his way, or someone who tried to prosecute him years back, or who knows.......

It will be the economy, and specifically the dollar, that undoes Trump.

Sad, because in the years it will take for the economy and living standards to decline, are years Trump will use to secure power and control.
I always wondered and scratched my head at the people who valued US debt. You know, that whole "The Debt of The United States Shall Not Be Questioned" (14th Amendment), yeah, that stuff. Because if you look at the debt, and you look at the governemnt and the leaders leading that governemnt, how can you have faith in our debt, or our dollar? It only took someone as dumb as Trump to come in and wreck the place.
The world had faith we could do better. Americans had faith we would do better. And here we are, doing no better than any other governemnt in the world with problems, letting in a thug with a baseball bat take over the place.
Imagine if you will, MINUS a dictator taking over, imagine a scenario where Americans could fix our government, specifically Congress, without having to vote for a tyrant, or without even having to vote in a federal election? Yes, Congress can be fixed, and peacefully, and without a revolution, and fully compliant with out Constitution. And yet we break for tyrants.
Democracies thrive, and they also die, with votes.

We told you it would be abused as you celebrated them deporting “pro Hamas” people (like the Tufts student now proven innocent). You said you weren’t worried about it being extended to citizens and now here Trump is, talking about doing just that.

Incredible that any American feels like it's okay for one person to deport any other American to a foreign prison based on a whim.
Where is your line?
And before you respond with some other brain-dead "you scared yet" post that shows ZERO critical thought, ask yourself this: If Big Bad Biden would've instituted this rule, would you have been cool with it?

So, when this citizen returns to the US, I suggest that you pony up for his legal fees. Or, better yet, you might let him move into your home, since you're so concerned. If you're not willing to do those things, well you get the point.

...but I actually HAVE opened up my house to people in need before. People from other countries. People with a different skin color than me. You know why? Because that's what it means to be a decent human being. If you're Christian, that's what loving your neighbor as you love yourself looks like.
But I understand you've already sacrificed any personal sense of morality in order to fall lock-step behind Trump.
So stop trying to guilt others into your level of moral depravity just because opening your house to people in need is such a foreign concept to you.
All you do is obey Trump.

Again, you are assuming things that you have NO knowledge of. My point is simply this. If you are so worried about this " citizen", pay his legal fees and open your home to him. It's has absolutely nothing to do with beliefs or following anyone. I do not sit around worrying what this president, or past presidents have done or are about to do. I normally worry about what effects me and mine. Liberals and never Trumpers yap about everything he does or, doesn't do. Sky screaming is not my thing.

"I do not sit around worrying what this president, or past presidents have done or are about to do. I normally worry about what effects me and mine."
Yeah, that's evident. Not surprised at all that you only care about yourself.
What you fail to understand: People get angry at Trump because he behaves offensively. You can call it "sky screaming" or whatever you want, but not everyone will just roll over because your Dear Leader tells them to. Some people have integrity and stand up for what they believe in. And then the real dirtbags are the ones who stand on the sidelines, complicit in these offensive behaviors, and laugh at the people who have the guts to stand up and say "That's not right."
You say you don't worry about what this president is doing, but you're more than willing to come on here and defend what he's doing. That just makes you obedient and easy to control.

This quote is a powerful reflection by Pastor Martin Niemöller, on the dangers of apathy and not speaking out against injustice:
"First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Socialist. Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Trade Unionist. Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out— Because I was not a Jew. Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me."
I am sure it won't resonate, but I thought I'd give it a go anyway.

You obviously have poor reading comprehension or are just a little daft. I probably pick my issues and have strong opinions on both sides more than just about anyone that posts here. You don't even have a strong opinion on one side and don't have the ability to express it you did feel strongly about something.

he wasn't on some list that they used to deport him. that does not mean he is not a gang member.
His lawyer says he was a find young man.
What does his employer say about him? crickets, wonder why.
I said before when this started that he does deserve due process.
For the life of me I can not figure out why the left is so focused on this one case.

He has never been convicted of any crimes though and they used the word of another criminal. What's the real proof though? I wouldn't be surprised if he was, but how about some real proof. As far as the left being focused on this case, is because it expemplifies that Trump thinks he is above the law. It's not exactly about the guy. That's my guess.

You aren't on some list that they used to deport these people (that we know of). That does not mean you are not a gang member.
Your lawyer, assuming you can afford one, would probably say you were a fine young man.
What does your employer say about you? crickets, wonder why.
For the life of me, I can not figure out why the left would be so focused on that. No evidence of crime? No problem.

That decision didn't require the administration to do anything other than allow him to return for additional hearings if he were released by his native country. The same country whose president today made clear they weren't gonna release since he's their citizen in their prison. The kooks who think the US military is supposed to head to El Salvador and bust him out against the wishes of his country are bat #### crazy since that's what it would take at this point. Why do leftist trash always get so upset about illegal gang members who have had multiple chances at due process being deported? Crawl back under your rock scumbags.

What process? Do you think El Salvador gives a sh!+ what a Judge here says? Did anyone here actually read the Supreme Court's ruling and smart enough to know what the word "try" means? SCOTUS said ... try to get him released, not to get him released.
"The US Supreme Court has ruled unanimously that the Trump administration must "try" to release a Maryland man who was mistakenly deported to a mega-jail in El Salvador."
SCOTUS does not want an international incident. If the El Salvador Courts want to send him back, so be it.

I knew you would add something brilliant. You're so smart. What's it like to be you? The process would be simple. We ask for him back. They would say yes. He would go through the process in the USA. The one that was underway. It's not that complicated buddy.

The President of El Salvador said no! He's an El Salvadorian citizen that has had an open Order for Deportation since 2019. Are you just stupid or both stupid and an idiot? Which Circuit Court Judge feels all presidential today and wants order the military go get him? Die on that hill along with other liberal buddies, buddy!

Ah, I see we’ve entered the "scream insults instead of reading" phase of the discussion. Hate to break it to you, but he was granted asylum by a U.S. judge in 2019, which legally blocked his deportation. ICE ignored that and broke the law. The Supreme Court isn’t ordering tanks, it’s telling the White House to clean up its mess. But hey, don’t let facts get in the way of a good tantrum.

I don't think he's been accused of a crime in either the US or El Salvador. But he's being detained in that prison at Trump's request and Trump is paying for it. The gang who was threatening him in El Salvador was also trying to extort him in the US, and that's where Bondi's false claim that he is MS-13 originates - from somebody in MS-13 who was extorting him.
This is just the start though. If Trump is given the chance, he will make the courts completely powerless. He has discussed this with his buddy Bibi during one of their many sexting sessions.

In 2019 a U.S. Court said he was illegal and issued a deportation order.

The 2019 order said he could be deported, but not to El Salvador.

You still haven't read the Supreme Court ruling have you? You can read the whole thing if you were interested in the whole truth and not click bait.
The justices did not give the administration a deadline for when Mr Ábrego García should be freed.
The Supreme Court said "Judge Xinis may have exceeded her authority when she required the Trump administration to "effectuate" Mr Ábrego García's return."
The Supreme Court said, "The district court should clarify its directive, with due regard for the deference owed to the executive branch in the conduct of foreign affairs."
Has the District Court provided clarification of it directive yet? If they have, I missed it. It should be interesting.

I have seen the basics and he was forbidden from being sent to El Salvador. You do know at least that part, right? No?

Immigration judge gave him a "withholding removal status," just short of formal asylum, where the government is told not to remove him. He got a work permit, got married to a US citizen and had a US citizen kid. Started the process to get a green card as a step to citizenship. He had the wrong kind of tattoo for the morons in ICE, which is to say, any tattoo. He'll likely die in that prison without ever having any formal criminal charge. All because a convicted felon with orange skin and prenis envy can't admit a mistake.

He isn't going to delay and he isn't going to care. He is already content with the dude gone. It's over as far as Trump is concerned. If only the pesky fake news would stop asking him about it is how he feels.
