I'm not sure why you wouldn't feel sorry for them

They are seemingly innocents in this situation.

Wow. Do you have kids? Can't wait for the day when they screw up. That's going to be priceless to watch.

You're acting like this is just a kid screwing up

Jun 28, 2013, 4:56 PM

This is a kid committing a felony. It's a little different, sounds like you might coddle your kids a little.

You missed the point entirely. He's blaming the parents as much as the perp.

That's ridiculous.

Yep, his parents share some of the blame as well

I was taught not to jump fences, remove cases, and destroy landmarks. Actually I was taught not to be a complete idiot, and that if I did act like a complete idiot, I was probably going to have to faces the consequences of acting like an idiot on my own. I'm pretty sure my dad would have made a press release calling me an idiot.

Well, that's certainly ok with me. I certainly wasn't raised that way, and I don't raise my kids with a silver spoon in their mouth either. They do chores, earn their allowance, etc.
I hold them accountable, and when they fail, there are no excuses.

But when an 18 year old fails, is it automatically the parent's fault? Not in my book.
