How do homeschoolers meet the NCAA Clearinghouse requirements?

And if they don't, why wouldn't every recruit with questionable academics go this route?

I mean, they can even keep playing for the team in their attendance area but get their grades from their parents.

or what California's home school laws are. In SC there are pretty strict guidelines as well as documentation about coursework and grades that all have to be turned in to the state. Could you fudge those numbers? Probably. At least when I was going through clearing house stuff though that was never and issue. As long ACT and SAT scores lined up fairly with GPA and met minimum requirements I don't think they cared too much.

that it is somewhat commonplace for folks to do that to avoid academic troubles and that at least in SC, that it is monitored heavily by the SC High School League, meaning the athlete has to be homeschooled for at least a year before being eligible to play.


There are also legit cases of families wanting to homeschool and there is no issue with the NCAA with those cases.
