DJ portal reports - a different take

Lots of reports of DJ to the portal last night and this morning. Here’s something to consider. The transfer portal is open from today until January 18. What if DJ’s intention is to be a good teammate and wait to announce his decision after the Orange Bowl so he can be on the sideline helping support Cade and the team? Dabo has said it is Cade’s team now so there is no controversy. After hesring Cade’s comments about DJ during his on field interview after the game (I still haven’t listened to the sit down pressers from him or Dabo) and watching the 2 of them during the game, he and DJ seem to have a great relationship and I think having DJ on the sideline for the bowl game could be very good for Cade and the team in general.
Before y’all start with the cultist crap, I absolutely think DJ needs to go, but maybe having him on the sideline for the bowl game might be good for everyone including Cade.
So maybe we could stop with the “don’t let the door hit you on the way out” kind of comments and let the guy be a good teammate through the bowl game if that does turn out to be his intent.

I can’t imagine a team thinking he is what they need. I also can’t imagine anyone thinking Cade needs his support or advice. The other way around may have helped DJ but Cade needs to be far away from whatever is affecting DJ’s head for fear it’s contagious. And this is me being nice about it.
Change is needed for everyone right now.

Go back and listen to Cade’s on field comments right after the game. He values DJ and flat out says how much DJ being there has meant to him. Speaks volumes about the maturity of both of these guys compared to people who post childish comments on message boards. And this is me being nice about that too.

I’m saying Cade is not only beyond his years in talent, but seems to be very wise with his words. We are in very good hands.
Saying nice things isn’t a lie, and degrading someone to make yourself look better makes you look bad. Fans on Tnet are fortunately able to state the obvious things we don’t necessarily want our coaches and players saying.
I cannot believe this is so hard to grasp?

That’s part of the point. Maybe we should let him decide what’s in his best interest. Again, not talking about the decision to transfer, but the timing.

I agree, I hope DJ doesn’t transfer until after the Bowl game. He should stay and just enjoy and take it all in, especially since the burden of being the starting qb is off his shoulders. Stay for one more game and support his teammates. He could very well still go in and get playing time in Miami. He’s got plenty of time to transfer afterwards.

And if he decides that is what he should do then go for it. My point is this is HIS decision. Let him do it on his own timing. And I believe he seems like the kind of guy that might just want to do whatever he can to help his team win even if it is moral support from the sideline. I may be wrong and I might click out of this and see he has already announced. I also think “fans” making comments like don’t let the door hit you and keep him as far away as possible aren’t a good look for Clemson.

I would love to see him stay. Very telling what Cade and Dabo said on all the interviews. You hear what you want and that's normal. But it appears to be genuine to me. Very telling that host on accn show thanking Dabo on handling DJ the way he did. We Don't know the facts. Me personally believe that DJ has been helping Cade take over but just wasn't ready. Hence the excitement in the cuse game with DJ. Pieces seem to fit. Jmho.

He hasn’t announced that he is entering the portal. That is my point. A lot of people talking for him right now. Giving people the impression he has already announced and they say things like you are saying. If he announces prior to the game I agree with you that is the time to cut ties, but he hasn’t announced yet and I’m wondering if that means he may want to help the team however he can through the bowl game.
