I have to wonder if Dabo hesitating to punish Watkins had...

anything to do with this. I think the 'academics' is just an excuse to report to the media and fans. Dabo sent Bellamy packing immediately (yes - it was football season, and now it's not). If I'm Bellamy, I'm watching to see if Dabo is going to be 'fair' (whatever 'fair' means) in dishing out the punishment for a more-favored player. That lack of immediate discipline for Watkins probably affected Bellamy in many ways. There's a lot we don't know - so I'm not judging anyone - but if I were Bellamy, I would want some answers from Dabo. Just saying.

There are no football activities right now, so how could he punish him? Suspended him from voluntary workouts or summer vacation?

hasnt already told Watkins his punishment. Just because the media doesnt know, does not mean that the team doesnt.

a decision on the 2 pills he had in his possession. Until that is decided, you won't get a decision from Coach Swinney, and you may not get one until late in the summer.
One benefit of not announcing the punishment is that you may get a more driven Sammy Watkins doing everything he can possibly do to lessen the penalty.

I'm just trying to put myself in Bellamy's situation, and wondering how I would perceive things regarding Watkins' mistake. I realize that the two guys are different based on things most here know nothing about.
Regardless of what I had done, if I were Mike, I'd be watching things. And yes - those decisions would affect me adversely. That's just me maybe. But I see it everyday in the workplace, and having been a manager for years, trying to be 'fair' to all is like dancing on eggshells. Dabo earns his money, that's for sure.
Anyway - good luck to Mike - and Watkins - and even Dabo in this situation.

because the 2nd semester grades were just released - anyone who's not eligible to continue because of their GPA has to miss a semester - that's normal procedure. DS had no say in this as this is standard for all students.
This has nothing to do with SW - his is a disciplinary situation where the punishment has to be decided on - MB was subject to standard academic policy.

yep this is not a football punishment per se...if bellamy's gpa was below a certain level, he has to go away for a semester, whether he is a superstar athlete or just a run of the mill student.
