For the sake of argument

Feb 12, 2013, 8:08 AM

This excerpt came out of that article about Clowney sitting for the year.

"If grown men can’t remember their middle names 10 years after they leave the league, what do you think will happen to those 160-pound, teenaged tailbacks who thrive in college? The NFL plays hardball. As dominant as Alabama was last season, the Crimson Tide would lose by double figures to the NFL’s worst team."

Where did this guy EVER see a 160 lb. tailback thrive in college? What a ridiculous statement.

my only thought is MAYBE Trendon Holiday for LSU, who is now in the NFL as a return guy.

For the sake of argument i will say that Alabama could contend with the lower tier NFL programs. I'm not saying they'd win a mojority of 16 games, but if they played the bottom 16 teams:

1. Chiefs
2. Jaguars
3. Raiders
4. Eagles
5. Lions
6. Browns
7. Cardinals
8. Bills
9. Jets
10. Titans
11. Chargers
12. Dolphins
13. Buccaneers
14. Panthers
15. Saints
16. Rams

I think they'd pick up 2-4 wins depending on home or away scheduling.... for the sake of argument...

I guess Sproles too.

But I think either one is 180. These guys act as if college football is a pillow fight.

I have flipped sides on the argument

I don't think they'd win a single game against any NFL due to the fact that even the worst NFL team still has players that were "superstars" in college.

I think the biggest difference

Is that there is no limitation on practice time in the NFL. They spend enormous amounts of time honing their craft while college limits the amount of time teams can practice.

They would not win a single game

College football is full of grown boys and the NFL is full of grown men. I don't care how good they are, an 18 or 19 year old kid can't compete with 25-30 year olds who have been getting better since they were 18-19.

College is not necessarily Division IA.***
