Good morning everyone how was your weekend?

Friday night, headed up to Beech Mountain to hang out and do some hiking. Some friends rented a place right on the side of the mountain. Just after we got there a really heavy fog rolled in. I was sure I would die.
Saturday, didn't die, spent the day hiking then back down then watched the game.
Sunday, hit up a couple of breweries then headed home.

Friday...dinner with wife-of at Calhoun Corners.
Saturday...made breakfast for fam (spicy grit bowls), took son-of and wife-of to Dave and Busters for a while, then Cabela's, the Carrabba's for lunch, then home to settle in for a full day of football. Watched our game at home solo. Good road win. Up to 1am 'cause can't sleep right away after a game.
Sunday...solo trip to Waffle House for breakfast 'cause also can't sleep in after staying up late. Watched the Giants game at 9:30 with son-of...can't believe they beat the Packers, especially as many players as they have out. Taking son-of to see them play the Jags in Jacksonville in 2 weeks and he is pretty excited. Watched more football. Steelers completely sheet the bed against the Bills. Fantasy team rolled and now 4-1. Working on locking down daughter-of's iphone due to her being 12 yo and total boy-crazy. Then spent an hour listening to her cry about excessive limits...tough. Stayed up to watch late game. Didn't accomplish anything to my wife's great displeasure.
Solid weekend of football and not much else.

the drama into full teenager mode.
She turns 13 at end of the month and she's getting a head-start on teenage girl nonsense.
I put a 2 hour limit for all non-family communications and you would have thought her world was brought to a complete halt. She spent all day with boyfriend and his family at Carowinds on Sat...solid 14 hrs. Then only being able to facetime with him for a total of 2 hrs on Sunday was overly repressive. "I love him so much, I have to talk to him more than 2 hrs!!" Crying, gnashing of teeth...the whole bit.
I made the mistake the other day of pointing out that the boy you "date" in 7th grade is statistically unlikely to be the person you marry. Horry sheet...was that a dumb thing to say!
So...good luck to you to sir...Father's of daughters need all the good mojo that they can get!

Youngest (daughter) is 16. I'm honestly not a helicopter parent but when it came to electronics, I wasn't gonna risk it.
They have had iPhones and I had all parental controls turned on. Snapchat wasn't allowed till 8th grade, and they knew there was a hard rule that until they were paying their own phone bills, I had a right to request to see their phones at any time. Did it a few times early on to set the precedent and then eased off unless there was reason for me to ask for it.

She had a boy ask her out the first week of school and she said he was acting weird and that she was only in 6th grade so what is the point of having a boyfriend (winner winner).
I'm not overly restrictive on devices as long as grades and attitude are in check. She's more into watching tik toks than talking to boys at the moment.
It's mostly other girls who are giving us a hard time. Middle school girls are savages.

is reaping the deliciously predictable rewards of an over-indulgent parent. She got said daughter a freaking iPhone when she was 6. Daughter has had at least 4 car accidents in her brief tenure as a driving person, and whines about everything.
I wouldn't know about any of this, except that mom posts near constant updates on FB. It is like the proverbial train wreck, except it is always different, yet the same.

Amazing. I picked up my niece from the police station late Friday night after a DUI. Actually, tried to get her earlier in the evening and I didn't realize I had to.blow a 0.0. I blew a 0.3. So, I had to wait a bit. Then they released her to me. Then I read her the riot act on Saturday. Watched the game. Sunday...meh. Life

Th first one, AFAIK, didn't have a limit as to what it would report, so that made it a game as to how high we could get it to go. The second one maxed out at .1, so it wasn't quite as fun.
I'm not sure why they took those down. They were fun.

Friday, visit with Mom after work, home to eat, play bass for an hour or so, then watch wrestling.
Saturday, typical house chores, long hike with pup, errands, grocery run. The bedroom pedestal fan we used for white noise died after many long years of service, scored a new one at Walmart for $17 on clearance, was $80. Even has a remote control. Had to assemble it, took my glasses off to see tiny diagrams on instructions, then promptly sat back down on glasses and mangled them. Temporary fix with tape to get me by. Watched game, flipped over to end of Alabama, then NCSU, then Phillies, then crashed.
Sunday, lazy morning reading all the sports news on the internet, hike with pup along the lake, pretty much piddled around until 4:30 then off to the Thirsty Beaver to see Western Centuries. This band totally blew me away. Probably by far the most talented band I've ever seen at the Beaver, and THAT is saying something. There have been a lot of great ones over the years. Back home by 9:30, ate some bean soup that Mrs. has cooking all day, then crashed.
Solid sports Saturday, fantastic live music Sunday, but the glasses fiasco calls for a point deduction so 18.5/19 Covids.

May be one of the few well built things left in the world. We use one for white noise too, and the last time I replaced it was 1997. Purchased at Service Merchandise (aka Brendle's) at Verdae and Laurens Rd as I recall for about $80 after my previous one smelled too bad to use after an apartment fire in Goldenwood.

it was somewhere in the neighborhood of 20 years old. The new one is a Better Homes and Gardens brand, definitely not built like the tank that the Holmes was and I don't expect it to give the same service. Great time of year to buy a fan though, it was the last one on the shelf and only $17 so I'm sure I'll get my money out of it.

Friday finished up the funding requests for job # 2, came home early and pressure washed the front porch and the old part of the deck then continued to clean out the garage.
Saturday trimmed the hydrangeas, gardenia and some other yard work followed by painting the front porch posts, porch furniture, and sealing the old deck.
Enjoyed yelling at the tv for the game
Sunday usual lunch with mom but it was a picnic at lake blalock instead of typical buffet worked some more in the garage
Not bad

My advice is to keep a large herd of deer in your yard and then, any hydrangea worries you have will magically disappear.
Along with the hydrangeas.

Cut back as far as you want as long as you leave at least 1 new leaf bud on each stem.
I cut mine back every other year and always get more blooms the spring after pruning.
Might take a while to shape them back the way you want.

and let it start over. Some hydrangeas bloom on old wood, some on new wood. But since it's going to get better sun now, even if it doesn't bloom next year, you're better off with cutting it back hard.

Friday evening was spent at the soccer fields

Oldest son tied their match 2-2, youngest son's team got DOMINATED. They each had a goal in their games. I think we got chick-fil-a to go because there was something going on downtown rock hill which made eating down there impossible.
Saturday morning up for a 5 mile solo run. Took daughter to "Walk-a-thon" at school for her chorus class. She walked 10 laps around the field...whoopdeedoo. Spent some time at the post office returning stuff my wife buys that doesn't fit and dropped into walmart to try and find a certain kind of iced coffee (They didn't have it). Lowes trip for 5 light bulbs ($50) and then home. Back out to trail run with the kids while they mt bike some. Did 6 miles there, but wife tripped about a mile in and hit her knee and hip. She is still reeling from that. Getting older sucks. Early dinner at Chuy's then home to catch the Clemson game. Was kind of meh until we pulled away at the second half. This team frustrates me maybe more than last years' team.
Up Sunday to spread pine needles at Mom's. Cleaned up in her house until noon getting it ready for a realtor to photograph it this week. Hit up an escape room for a friend's birthday, we barely made it out with about 3 minutes to spare. Decent idea, needed some hints though. Dinner, grocery store, back to Mom's to clean up some more, then home.
Fun Saturday, worked Sunday, back at it again this morning.

Friday took Mrs CubMD for overdue 28 year anniversary dinner downtown Gville, went to Sassafras, sat on porch, was really nice weather, street performer comes out to set up there in courtyard and I was like oh no, but he was really good, was a good night. Walked down to Hyatt, listened to a funk band there for octoberfest, had a drink at Roost
Saturday, spin class (must pay for indiscretions of night before), watched football, went to friends house, watched football and 2 of my buddies destroy their innards with the one chip challenge.
Sunday, took dogs to lake to see my mom and let them swim
Was good

Friday spent a couple hours on the back patio enjoying the weather.
Saturday got up, watched gameday for a bit and headed out to do some yardwork. There's a gottang bradford pear on property line with little old sweet lady. LOSL loves the bradford pear, I do not. I really want to cut this tree to the ground but LOSL would not be happy and frankly I'm a little scared of her. There's a large limb of this bradford pear that is over my driveway and has been encroaching into the cherry tree in front yard that we like. Time for surgery so I get out my chainsaw and hack off this large limb, then chop it up into pieces so the city will come pick it up hopefully. Wash up, watch football, enjoy some hometeam BBQ and then watch Tigers choke out BC with son. More football. Bourbon and bed.
Sunday up and head out for hike with son to Chattooga river at Big Bend. Beautiful day in the woods.
12 out of 7. Would repeat.

and I'm regretting it. Was a good weekend to hunt and slept in. It was nice to sleep in, rest up, spend time with the family, all that jazz.
Fri - picked up some pizza. Hung around the house. Helped buddy fire up the smoker for a cookout Sattidee (main reason I didn't pack up to hit the woods). He was cooking brisket overnight.
Sat - woke up w/ dawghater2baby. Wife went to her workout thing. Went over to buddy's house to get the ribs going. Watched the Vols, got a tune up from the wife, cooked some sides.
Cookout was good. Lot of hood kids and what not. Watched the 1H of our game at home, changed shirts (y'all welcome), watched 2H at other neighbor's house with the bros.
Sun - slept in again b/c up late again. Tooled around the house, watched BreadZone...picked up some Hibachi that was the ( . Y . )

We took a family beach trip last week. Family planning literature should really emphasize how beach trips change with a toddler. The through Wednesday we totaled probably three hours on the sand. I also had to work remotely, unfortunately. Despite that, it was fun.
Saturday, we fought traffic until sonof got carsick. After getting home, caught the Clemson game then stayed up late to watch the end of Alabama/TAMU.
Sunday, "slept in" instead of church and spent most of the day knocking out chores and trying to prep for the week ahead.

Friday: burgers on Blackstone, nailed them as usual
Saturday: up fairly early to throw some shit in a bag and head out to Edisto. Friend bought a house out there this year and wanted to have a Man Weekend, so we had 8-9 of us out there with glowing crystals. I was the only one who drove, everybody else boated from Chas. Sweet house, I'm doing something wrong (although I think this guy sold his house on Rainbow Row and moved a little north on the Peninsula, and bought this place with the spare change leftover from that sale).
Took some boats out to Otter Island and put mebbe 6 rigs in the water. Got ONE hit a couple hours in, but it was exciting--30-35 lb. tarpon that immediately broke the Wal-Mart pole mount out of the sand and snapped the line. Played horseshoes and bocce, didn't lose, because I'm so good at my craft. Drank much, watched games/scores on phones, headed back to grub.
Did a Lowcountry Boil/Beaufort Boil/Frogmore Stew, watched most of the Clemson game, complained about all of it, will need to rewatch in a mildly sober state.
Sunday: Up by 9, on the road by 10 after coffee and brefiss, home a lil after 11. Showered, hit up the Lewis Hatch Chile Roast with 19She. Was really crowded and disorganized and didn't get much in the way of free food like it has been for years--still a pretty fun scene though. Actually ate late lunch at Rancho Lewis (John's TexMex joint), quite tasty. 19She got nice and toasty, and I was quite certain I was gonna get some of my body parts moistened up when we got home, BUT...she decided she needed to call my aunt for some reason, and drunkenly talked to her for 30-40 minutes, mostly in the bathroom...and when she came out, she was inexplicably angry at me AND my dad. Proceeded to throw up and go upstairs and pass out, leaving me to feed, bathe, and get kids ready for school tomorrow. 19B was not particularly pleased at THAT turn of events.
11/10 weekend until late Sunday, but still lotsa fun.

Where’s that guys house? Trying to piece it together from the landscape. Doesn’t look like Jeremy or the Hammocks or anything terribly close to EB. That further up the island on the N Edisto side near Steamboat?
Only so many places on Edisto w deep water cricks.

Very busy and Clemson-y

Thursday night: finished training went up to Simpsonville to spend the night.
Friday: took off from work and headed to Clemson for my daughter's official visit. Met the track coaches, got a nice tour on campus, met with academic advisors and grabbed a bite to eat at YourPie. Had a facilities tour in the afternoon and met the coaches again. I left around 4PM, got some good REAL gas from QT
Saturday: first scokker tournament of the year, messed around and got a triple double. Watched a little bit of football, went out with some coaching buddies, watched the Clemson game and went home
Sunday: scokkered again, went home took a nap, daughter back from Clemson, she met with her high school coaches and her former club coach and she announced her decision.
I'm sure I'll regret this but......

Seriously, congrats. After teaching there the last three years, I know how well Clemson keeps track of grades for athletes. I never had a major sport player, well soccer guy, but they request updates on performance regularly.

I had the same thought. Can’t imagine coming into Columbia from out of state for a visit and thinking “yeah, this is the place”.

She likes the academic side of it at Columbia, the track coach has known her since she was nine, he pulled out all of the stops on the visit for sure.
Her verbatim comments about going to the SCAR/Georgia game that my wife got beer spilled on her from a Cuck fan.
"It was a lot more white-trashy than a Clemson game, and the students didn't even come back for the second half."

She don't get where she need to get to do that running without MauldinT spending a ton of weekdays and weekends getting up at the crack of dawn, traveling to God-foresaken meet locations, and spending his money.

Sorry stepped away for a bit.
Going well! Got a good back pocket offer right now and after the next two weekends we should know if she can get one she really was aiming high for. Will hit her D1 goal, just trying to get the best offer she can at this point. It’s stressful AF. I have hated the process.

she's been to New York, Kansas, Kentucky, Colorado, California and Oregon over the last three years.
I will give her credit, she started her own business to help pay for the flight tickets.

Friday - ordered poke bowls, might've watched TV, don't even remember. Bed. Got my snooze on.
Saturday - worked on a long-delayed work project, karate, more work, then a date night with the missus. Saw "The Good House" with Sigourney Weaver. Good date night flick. Great acting by her. One of the few who has gotten better looking with age. Went to dinner at an Indian joint. Yum. Got home just in time to see the Tigers start to take control in Chestnut Hill.
Sunday - church, finished up the work project - don't usually work on the Lord's Day, but mule was in the ditch and finally got this thing turned in and done. Gym. Live blogged my Pilsner Urquell drinking and dinner cooking. Good eats. Watched first new episode of Derry Girls. Not great. So that was disappointing. Watched the Ravens/Bengals until halftime. Bed.
Solid fall weekend overall.

Well it started on Wednesday...

Got up at 5:00 AM to get everyone else going for our trip to the airport. Arrived more or less as scheduled and had limited time to hang. Thought 4 year old would freak out about flying in a plane since she is always noticing when they fly over, but alas, she's way more interested in the iPad. Had a short layover in PHL and then on to Logan International. Dealt with the hellscape that is navigating Boston via GPS to visit with step-sister and her husband for dinner. Had a great meal at a little Salvadoran place and then saw their three story walkup nearby. Step brother in law is the lowest self esteemed individual I've ever known I think. I now know how much every piece of stereo equipment and musical instrument in his house costs. On the way back from there to our place, we got in a fender bender. Apparently slowing and beeping your horn did not mean come on over. Not too bad though.
Next day, up and on to Salem. Whoa. Weirdest town ever. Every single store is selling witch stuff. We hit most of the cool places around the main area near the mall and the "Old Jail." Runes, enchantments, protections, etc. Met the "Love and Light" good witch at the oldest witch store in Salem. Looked her up to see about doing a reading and found out she is on probation for assaulting the owner of the witch store down the street from her. So much for love and light. Had a great Pizza at Flying Saucer and then a pretty nice dinner. Pretty much every meal is around 150-250 bucks for two parents, two teens and four year old.
Next day we had breakfast and then checked out some more shops and stores, but Friday was twice as crowded as Thursday and there were lines for a few places. Did a tour of haunted places and actually learned that Salem was the home of the first National Guard unit, that Nathaniel Hawthorne added the "W" to his last name to distance himself from his great-grandfather who was the judge who sentenced many of the women to die during the witch hysteria. Learned that despite seeking religious freedom the Puritans eventually drove other religions underground and the oldest Episcopalian church there was founded almost 100 years before they could build an actual church. Had a pretty good dinner at Turner's seafood.
Saturday got a late start but met my cousin and her family at the Marina Biergarten. Had a couple of "Maine Lunch" IPA's that were pretty good before trying to check out more of Salem. Saturday was like Carolina Clemson crowds had been multiplied by 20, dressed as goblins and ghouls, and dropped into the middle of hell, I mean Salem. Literally lines around the block for every single store and 2 hour waits for tables at every single restaurant. Hit three stores for their kids to get some memorabilia and then headed out of Salem to grab dinner and hang out. Ate some pizza and said goodbyes and then wife of and I dropped the kids at the airbnb and headed to a sports bar to watch the back 3/4 of the Clemson game. Scored our first TD right around the time I finished my first old fashioned and then took off from there.
Sunday, up and out to a corn maze near Salem. Cool as heck. Tons of playgrounds, food, and activities for kids. Best part was the apple cannons. You get 50 apples for 5 bucks and shoot them at cars and metal cutouts in the woods. The cars are completely pummeled. It's insane the power of these air cannons. Left there had grabbed a quick lunch before heading back for the flight home. Daughter of flying to Charleston got stuck in DC and they put her up in a hotel and got her flight out this morning, but everyone flying home here had an uneventful flight.
All in all, a lot of fun. As far as Salem, the whole place is good fun but I would not ever recommend going on a weekend in October, it is slammed. I think going on a wednesday, thursday and maybe a Friday would be ideal to see everything that is cool and not be overwhelmed by the crowds.

I didn't even connect the dots on the logistics until about the day before we left. No way though I was seeing all the family, doing all the Salem sheet and making it to the game. Plus, #### driving in Boston main, that shizz sucks.

Football on sattidy....Drove to Blue Ridge, GA on Sunday for a quick get away since it's fall break.
BR is actually a cool little mountain town, but incredibly crowded, even on a Monday. Went to McCaysville, GA/Copperhill, TN dis mawn. There's a blue line painted through the town where you can stand half in TN, half in Jawja.
Great meal lass night at Whiskey and Water. Ms. Wilbur had a delicious lobster roll and I got the halibut just for the halibut.
No ratings as were still here.
