Was it really necessary to post this sad story in the middle of the Tigers playing for a National Championship? Couldn't it have waited an hour or two?
God rest his soul.

The most disturbing event was when the NCAA gave us 2 years probation and then the ACC gave us a third year of probation. I don't think that had happened before or since.

Who got drunk, did something stupid like try to jump the bridge... Tucker didnt make it... and they being drunk, didnt want to call the cops or for help.
Sometimes things just go bad. I am not trying to be incensitive... or have I missed something that indicates foul play?

You do NOT know “exactly” what happened.
His fraternity brothers even claim they don’t know what happened. They said he didn’t return from the jog. They don’t know what happened. None of his fraternity brothers have the balls to tell what happened.

I’ll be more clear, the frat brothers claim they didn’t know what happened. They claim Tucker Hipps didn’t return from the jog with the others and the frat bros weren’t aware he was missing until hours later.
I am not part of the investigation. I have only read publicly available press. But I call BS on the fraternity bros claims. Smells like they knew / know more than they shared. I hope this investigation continues until the full truth is known.

I think a lot of folks would be interested in hearing any information supporting your statement that it was murder or manslaughter.

I feel like i have when it first came out...

Unless, new evidence suggested foul play... like I said.
I have been in a situation where a couple of guys were doing dumb things that we shouldnt... one guy did it and it didnt turn out well. We were all laughing and meandered down to help him. We thought he was being dumb... just trying to make us laugh. Helped him out, and he said he couldnt get out himself and he was in a bad position that prolly would have killed him. If we would have played a joke on him and ran off... he would be dead.
My thoughts are something similar happened... if I recall correctly they talked about jumping across the bridge. Prolly said something about if you dont make it you swim back. Something went wrong and i dont think those involved knew how bad it was. By the time they realized it... they are now scared and dont know what to do because they were doing something they shouldnt have and didnt want the police involved. More than likely, if they were clear headed and knew that calling for help would save his life, but they werent and they didnt think that. Now this has snow balled and everyone involved is scared they are going to face legal action if they say anything.
Like someone below mentioned... offer immunity to the first and see if you get the truth.

That’s right, things went bad, and his fraternity brothers didn’t have the decency to see HOW bad. It seems none of his fraternity brothers had the balls or integrity to help Tucker Hipps.
This is just a guess, but I assume there are two or three fraternity brothers that really know the whole story, they are keeping their silence because they are ashamed of their actions and are well aware of their legal and criminal liabilities. A truly horrible way to live the rest of their lives. Karma is a female dog.

Nobody needs to research how frats work. We all know that. No research needed.
The fraternity "brothers" that are remaining silent might need to think about how ethics work. On a different, but somewhat important note, if they believe in god, they might wanna share the truth with the Hipps family and then maybe the authorities.
I find it hard to beleive all the frat brothers have been 100% truthful.
This isn't a matter of loyalty or brotherhood. If Tucker Hipps' brothers knew he fell off the bridge, but refrained from helping him or telling anyone since it was part of hazing, they are not maintaining loyalty, they are weak young men with thin ethics that buckled to peer pressure and will likely increasingly regret their handling of these events until hopefully some day they gain peace by sharing the truth.
I pray for the Hipps family.

Truly a sad situation. Not sure from what I have read what to believe. Self inflicted or foul play. I really hope it was not foul play and these guys are living with the lie. Not sure at this point if his parents will ever know what really happened.

If they want it solved, the District Attorney should offer full immunity to the first canary that sings. We would have the answer same day deal was offered.

You are assuming something illegal actually happened.
Even if it did, probably not.
If anything illegal did happen it's only going to come out when:
One of the guys is dying and confesses because what does he care at that point
One of the guys finds God to the point he confesses his crimes
One of the guys joins AA and takes the apologize to the people you have hurt seriously.
There was a rape accusation at UVa that was prosecuted years later when one of the rapists apologized to the victim as part of his AA journey.

D.A. offer immunity and the race for the deal is on. A crime happened. Maybe a serious one, maybe a misdemeanor, but a crime of some kind happened
