Coach Brownell just told Walt that Jack Clark might get a possible last year, that they were working on to see if he can get.

It also sounded like PJ is not coming back, and Chase Hunter would probably come back after testing his NBA draft value.
So looks like the immediate need in the portal will be a center. Coach Brownell said it will not have to be a stretch 4 type. but the best player they can get who can play inside.

Also, Coach Brownell hinted might be two bigs might be looking for. So maybe the Jack Clark situation is doubtful.

Heard him talking to Walt about the transfer portal and how he feels about it and how it is driving coaches from the game with other coaches coming in recruiting players off of the current roster...sad how that stuff is just ruining college athletics

It really is sad- and out of control.
1,500 players expected to be in the portal- which, I'm guessing has to include all of NCAA and Juco(?)
I do know there's only about 5,000 Division 1 scholarship players every year.
Those numbers scream "broken system" that needs change asap.

at Clemson. Said we can't just go out and select who we want; instead we have to look for a certain type of player, ones that are a "good fit for our program" and can be developed.

Yeah, but really wanted a shooter like JGIII and got him with stiff competition. His NIL deal was worth about $250-$300k.
They can do that again...

(or a Joe Girrard), but we simply don't recruit on the level with the best basketball schools. That's always been the biggest obstacle to big-time success or a consistent high level of play at Clemson. We have to do it the hard way, and congrats to Brownell for getting it done. Hopefully this recent success will lead to better recruiting going forward.
