Was the last play really drawn up to take a 3 from a player who hasn't played all season when we were down by 1?
I'd think a competent coach would have told them to take it to the basket or at least have one of our best players take the shot.

Nothing drawn up there. If they take a timeout then he can draw up a play, but he elected to play through. C Hunter needed to take his man off the dribble, but spacing was terrible. UVA had help to the strong side dribble. Chase could have went baseline, and forced help to open someone in lane. When he elected to pick up his dribble, it was trouble.

Keystone Cops or the 3 Stooges could have done a better job of executing a good play… the lack of leadership and accountability for Clemson Basketball is unacceptable.

If we were Duke, we could've just planned on going wildly up the middle, out of control, and toss a ball up with no chance of going in, to draw the "foul" and win with free throws.

is how I imagine practices go, for the most part. Gerard is the assist leader at 3.0 a game, the other primary ball handler(C Hunter)is consistently erratic, terrible decision maker and a God awful shooter from distance. Half of the season is over and we've seen very little evidence of any designed plays to free up Gerard for open looks. I guess he hopes they work it out in the motion offense and they'll be stronger for it down the line.

99% of point guards at any level of basketball would’ve driven straight to the hoop. You either make a layup or they foul you.
Taking a three is flat out dumb.
It is 100% Brad Brownell‘s fault if every player on the team isn’t aware of their unique role when one of our guards takes it to the hole when you’re down by one and seconds left. High school teams know this. Unique role could be our other players holding a screen, etc thus attempting to open a lane. But the key is our point guard chase Hunter has to go to the hoop as fast as he can, don’t let the defense get set right in front of you like Chase did yesterday.
Even if Brad didn’t have a set play, this is also 100% chase hunters fault. Chase should know what every high school point guard in the country knows and that is take it to the hole in this situation.
Hundred percent Brad’s fault and hundred percent chases fault. Yes, I am good at math.

Correct - drive and have PJ and Shieff coming in from both sides to rebound if no foul or basket. Last thing would be a three.
